This is an 1879 Model 12, New Family Singer. The serial number is in two parts: 3049934 and 328934. The dating of the machine is based upon the larger of the two numbers.
| This is the machine with the lid on. It has a key that locks the lid in place. |
This is a close up of the front of the lid or box. Notice
the unusual Singer emblem. It is set into an inlaid piece of wood on the front of the machine. You will only find this emblem on the very earliest machines.
| This is the end panel of the stand. Notice that the Singer emblem is very large, and it is centered on the panel. |
This is the open machine. Notice that it has a leaf that extends the table top. Also notice how the treadle is much smaller than on the later model treadle machines. And the name "Singer" does not appear anywhere on the treadle or the crossbar.
| This picture is of the head of the machine. It is in good condition, and it works very smoothly, but most of the gold decals have worn off. |
