Audi TT Roadster

Audi decided to do things backwards. Backwards, according to the other German auto makers. When they brought out their roadsters (Z3, SLK, Boxster), they came as roadster then coupe, for the most part. But Audi waited to bring its roadster out, and here it is.

With the top up, it's almost identical to the coupe sibling. It only weighs 150 pouns extra to the coupe, so performace isn't too much of a factor. The drag coeficient is quite low for a roadster as well.

Audi TT Quattro Roadster

As an option, Audi offers it's Quattro all wheel drive system, hooked to a 225-hp version of the 4 cylinder turbo. Since the TT is on a standard VW/Audi platform, (shared by the Golf,Jetta,Beetle,TT,A3,and Skoda/Seat models) it uses parts from the European Golf 4motion all wheel drive system. It's finally attatched to a 6-speed manual gearbox. This diagram shows the Quattro system quite well, although the engine is missing from view (it doesn't look different from the 180hp version; all the plastic coverings you can't tell).

Refined TT

After several reports from mostly European customers that the TT was less stable at Autobahn speeds (also that is tended to flip ovre itself), a rear spoiler was added so increase downforce. Also, revised anti-roll bars, stiffer up front and softer in back, and revised shocks were incorporated. This model was on Tom Sheild's showroom floor.
