The rear emblem, round lights, roundel and all.
This is the rear wheel (yeah we cleaned it off). Drum brakes supply stopping power. They look really cool at high speed.
The Heartbeat
At '02 Fest East or West, or any other concourse, you can find 2002s whose engines are cleaned daily with Q-Tips. Clean enough to eat off of them. But that shows the car isn't let to be used in its full capabilities. I happen to like a dirty engine bay, because that proves the car is a real driver and not a pretty sitter. The Tank's engine is the base 113hp 2.0 liter. We were having some probelms with the carb when I took this picture and trying to fix it, but I couldnt resist photographing it. In the foreground, left rear corner of the bay, you can see the VIN and color code printed on every BMW. Back in 1972, the engine was much easier to work on (maybe some difficulty with the air filter clips...) and much prettier, without all those plastic covers BMW puts on now.
