My Black & Blue (Nats' Black & Blue)

Mwuahahahahaha!!!! I got Black & Blue, finally!!!!! I'm still alive and well and still in love with my wittle boys! So, general conclusion, their best album yet. Yep folks, they actually beat Millennium. So, let's take a step through the qonderful tracks.

The Call

AJ!!!! Really now.... Bad little boy. Das not really nice, you know. You should get a good a' spankin'. heehee. Why am I here already? Oh yeah, the song. It was a good opener song. The beat being quite comparable to Larger Than Life. The song in itself was good, original. And just it being a call was interesting. The chorus was a bit on the weak side because it sounded like a conversation, not an actual song chorus. But the song overall was very good.

Shape of My Heart

The first single, it was a simple clip which let us focus on the song mainly. Well... The first time around, I was a little busy ooggling at Brian and Kevin and AJ. Hey! First single of a new album. I'm a female, I can't help it. This is B&B's equivalent to I Want It That Way. Deep thoughts, although not written by any of the boys. Values everyone's vocals...except maybe for Kevin and Howie who didn't really get their spotlight. Also a good song, gateway between Millennium and Black & Blue.

Get Another Boyfriend

I was quite shocked when I first saw the name of the song on the back of the CD. I thought...uh-oh, that was kinda straight forward. Should I really expect something good from that? Well the answer if pretty much HELL YEAH!!!!! This song is just really reaaaallllly great. Up-tempo and everything. AJ's voice values it so much. The lyrics are just a tad confusing but after hearing it a few times, everything's well cleared up.

Shinning Star

This isn't ace material but it's still a BSB song which makes it still a good song(yeah, that's how good they are). I could imagine them singing this, really hyper. At the end, AJ really gets it on and the song takes shape a little. Again, not their best stuff but still not something worth skipping over. Quite the contrary really. Nick and Howie gave a helping hand on this song...hehe, maybe they got high and eachother and gave a few pointers to the composer.

I Promise You (With Everything I Am)

This is...just so mature. This IS a wedding song. Still not written by the boys but very very meaningful words. It's just an extremely sweet song about love. It's too bad love doesn't seem to be eternal in these times but this song gives an idealistic view of what could be if we didn't divorce for every little damn thing. Brian's sweet voice is valued in this one, like in nearly all the songs. Very good.

The Answer To Our Life

YAY! Exclusively written by ALL the guys. I'm impressed! This is really good, words speaking. I really liuke the chorus '' I need a reason, I need a sign''. Just the title is something that would give Justin a headache. I'm just...so...impressed is the only word I can find for it! They must've worked quite a great deal on this one. But it's just so deep. We all search for a reason for living really and we ultimately find it when we find hapiness in another human being. When? We never know... Just, sheer class.

Everyone

It makes you wonder is its now an official rule to write a song for the fans in every album. It's just....thanks for thanking us again. The ''We know who you are...'' part is a bit, scary? It sounds like they're out to get us!!! Hey, come and get me if you can... ;) I just like the idea that they actually realise we're here unlike other stupid groups. It touches somewhat of a spot in the heart that they care in a way. Not in the way that alot of us would like them to but it's still really good. Now, the song itself is a great up-tempo song to get you, not really dancing, cheering. I like the circus part, hehe. That was cute. Again, Brian and AJ are just great on this.

More Than That

Again, just a great song. I'm starting to run out of nice words to say for their stuff. Everything's just so great! The lyrics are very touching, very romantic. It would be great if there was actually a guy like that out there. It just shows that songs are an illusion, an escape from reality. And this is a good escape. Just, again, Brian! Your voice my god... He has the best voice I ever heard.

Time

I can't believe they wrote this! It's sorta about love, but it also is just a general thing on letting things go by on their own. Things will change, or maybe they wont. Just take it as it is. Its in change that you see who you're real friends and lovers are, the ones that will stick with you no matter what. You HAVE to write more guys. You just do it so well. The vocals on EVERYONE are brilliant. I love the last part where Brian sings. It has to be my favorite part, for sure. Just, a greatly written song. Producted by BabyFace so it sounds like an 80s song on some basis.

Not For Me

It starts off a little strange but things pick up as song as Brian opens his mouth. I like the metaphore, ''crime scene''. It shows who serious this kinda stuff can be in a relationship. Anyway, anyone who cheats on a Backstreet Boy is just really dumb. I'm not too crazy about the uh-uh part, it just sounds like they went:

Brian: Hey, we say no-no here but we've got a count missing here. What should we put?

Nick: Mah brain's hurtin'. Just say whatever. I wanna go eat.

Kevin: uh-uh, you're.... on a di...et now dumb... dumb.

AJ: Dude, that sounds good, uh-uh. *does a pelvic thrust* uh-uh. Oooooooh yeah. Put that in...

Sorta stupid, eh. Well, that's just the impression I got. Overall, a good song, not dancing type but too hard to be a mid-tempo...I have no clue how you can classify this one.

Yes I Will

Kevy helped juuuuust a little bit but still counts! Another wedding song. Just pretty much the same critique as I Promise You. It's just overall sweet and Brian hits some pretty nifty high notes in there. AJ added some R&B in there. And I really like the part at the end where Kevin goes ''I-ah-uh-ah-uh- I willlll....'' hehe, sounds really nice. His voice is just so bass, so *ahem* sexy *ahem*...

It's True

They really do mean it, don't they. Well it sounded like that. It's one of the most sincere sounding things I've heared in a looong time. He's just asking for forgiveness dammit! He admits he made a mistake so... Oh wait, dump him so I can have 'im....hehehe. There IS one part I don't really like in the chorus ''Yeah, it's true...'' I don't like the yeah in that. It doesn't sound right to add that in a song that sounds like an old time sorta thang. ahem... But that's pretty much the only flaw I could find on this one.

How Did I Fall In Love With You

This is a favourite of mine. It's just so extremely, vulnerable. Howie really writes well, don't he! But... They sounds like little boys again. That must be such a painful situation. When they sing, especially Brian, it sounds like they are actually living that. It's something in the way they sing. It just sounds so real. I just love it. I can listen to this dozens of times. Everytime, it weighs down on my heart and my eyes well up. I get all sentimental. They really finished it with a beautiful bang.

And that was My Black & Blue. My favorite album ever, until they release something else anyway. I was listening to it the whole time I wrote this so alot of my comments are based on emotions. But they pretty much stand for whenever I'm sane. And to the guys, you are SO much more than a boyband really. Boybands don't come up with gold like this. Keep 'em comin' kiddies.
