What is Air Cadets?
The Air Cadet Program is a free organization open to young people between the ages of 12 and 18. Some people are concerned that Air Cadets are soldiers and have to participate in military activities. This, however, is not true. The Air Cadet Program is a civilian organization which stems from a partnership between the Department of National Defense and the Air Cadet League of Canada. These organizations combine their efforts to operate over 400 Air Cadet Squadrons all over Canada. These organizations provide cadets with uniforms, transportation for cadet activities, facilities for summer training centers, reviewing officers for annual inspection, handbooks, and other materials needed for cadet training. Everything you need as a cadet is provided either by the Air Cadet League, the Department of National Defense, or your home squadron.
