At 8:30am on Monday January 13th, our team of adventurers boarded a SHORTLINE Coach to "The City That Never Sleeps" ...yes, we mean New York City. Once the group, consisting of Franny, Em, Meerz, Vix, and David from Peru, arrived at 42nd Street, they met up with Mel, former resident of the House and NYC Staten Island local... Mel showed the group around the famous New York City and made sure that by Tuesday evening, no one could feel their toes... or hands... or face. New York had stolen Chicago's title of 'The Windy City' during our stay and the group surely froze each time they stepped outdoors... The Carney family proved to be as nice as their daughter Mel is funny, and the adventurers felt at home with the warm welcome that awaited them at the Carney household on Staten Island... The group waits anxiously for when Mel and her man Jude come back to Pennsylvania and visit the house... we miss you guys xxx... Pictures of our NYC trip will be posted shortly...Vix recommends getting mugged in Central Park, it's an experience not to be missed. Though the mugger's timing was off and Vix heckled him 'til he left, it's just one more thing we feel the locals take for granted... Also the walk-on keyboard in the FAO Schwartz Toy Store plays a fantastic rendition of Heart and Soul if your feet are quick enough... Franny felt it was important to take the phrase "shopping in New York" to a new level, by entering and browsing almost every store the group encountered. David was happy to wander the brand stores like GUESS and A&F while Em, Meerz and Vix scrounged through the cheap souvenir stores that littered every corner... Meerz even tried her hand at bartering and knocked a few bucks off a trinket by arguing with an old lady... This and much more took place as we pounded the New York pavement for 2 days. Our first time in The Big Apple will not be something we shall forget anytime soon...
