Help A Heartbroken Family Get a Himalayan Kitten

Reasons To Donate to This Cause

Thank you for visiting. This is a site dedicated to the purpose of raising money for "Operation Himalayan". This is the venture of trying to raise money to pay vet bills for Fluffy, whose story is told below, and to purchase a new Himalayan, which cost around $400. All donations are greatly appreciated, and if just 200 people would donate just $2 we'd have enough to purchase the Himalayan for this heart broken family who lost one of it's members. So please read the story of Fluffy, and hopefully you'll find it in your heart to help these people.
On July 19, 2003 I decided I wanted to get a puppy or a kitten, I wasn't just sure which I wanted. Me being the type of person who always helps those in a bad situation, and donates to good causes, decided to check my local Humane Society. There are always good animals there, who are all in need of good loving homes.
Upon arriving at the Society I started by seeing what they had for dogs. I did see this cute cocker spaniel with sad brown eyes, but someone was in the process of adopting her. So it was on to the puppies. At the time the only puppies they had were large breed dogs. My home is just not conducive to raising a large dog, so that was out of the question. In a few minutes, I would realize it was fate that there hadn't been any dogs or puppies suited to me. It was on to the cats and kittens.
I went into the room where cats and kittens are kept, and started checking them out. There were 3 long haired calicos, they were very nice cats, and on the top of my list for the moment. Then I got to the end of the row, looked in the last cage, and promptly fell in love. There in that cage was the cutest, most darling kitten I had ever seen. She was an 8 week old seal point Himalayan, absolutely beautiful. Her big blue eyes just seemed to be saying, "Take me home!" And that is exactly what I did, and so Fluffy became a member of our family.
Everyone in the family quickly fell for Fluffy. No one could resist the adorable and charming little baby. We all loved her greatly, especially my 3 year old nephew. Fluffy would curl up on his lap when he sat in the chair and take a nap. He was fascinated and enamored of her, we all were. Then things started going wrong.
On July 24 my mom woke me up early. She told me that there was something wrong with Fluffy, and she was sick. So I got up to see what was wrong, and to my absolute horror, Fluffy was seemingly very ill. She couldn't even walk, her back legs were so weak that when she tried she would fall over sideways. I called the vet, and got her in. The vet gave her an IV to put fluids under her skin and gave me an antibiotic for a bacterial infection. Also there was a nutritional supplement because the kitten was malnourished. So Fluffy came home with the medicines, and detailed instructions that if she got worse, or wasn't better by morning to come back.
Fluffy seemed better when we got home. She got some sleep, and was able to walk again. But the next morning, things were a different story. Fluffy was worse. She had developed a sever case of diaherrea and couldn't walk again. She wouldn't eat or drink anything, and did nothing but lay around. She was meowing so piteously. I took her back as an emergency. The vet put Fluffy in the hospital, for an overnight visit. The put a catheter in her back hip for IV and fluids to be administered. And so I left her in the care of the vet. The next morning I was able to bring her home again. Fluffy was eating and drinking again. She still had the diahrrea, but was not as bad. I did exactly what the vet said, and Fluffy was fine all afternoon. Things seemed like she was gonna be ok. Then disaster struck.
Fluffy got up in her chair in our living room. she was laying there, meowing piteously again. I felt horrible, and didn't know what to do for her. I picked her up, and the most horrible thing yet happened to Fluffy. She had a siezure right there in my hands, her body was convulsing and her head fell backwards and she made a noise the likes of which I have never heard a cat or kitten make. I was panicked and put her down gently but quickly, and tears were running down my cheeks. I knew the end was near. Then 5 minutes later, Fluffy let out a heaving sigh, and then stopped breathing. Fluffy had died, and I started to cry in earnest. Even though I was hurting, at least her suffering had ended.
That is Fluffy's story, which is what brings me to this point. The entire family is heart broken over the loss of Fluffy, especially my 3 year old nephew who can't understand why he can't see Fluffy anymore. We have vet bills to pay, and would like to adopt/purchase another Himalayan. Sadly, the Humane Society has no more, nor do any in this area. I have checked. Himalayans cost around $400, plus I have vet bills to pay still. So please find it in your hearts to make a donation, however small, to help us. Help us ease the pain and crying of a little 3 year old boy who misses his Fluffy buddy, Please.
