The stars cast an eerie glow over the Moon Kingdom, shining a bit darker than the ordinary shining they normally cast over the White Pillars. Perchance it was the sign of the danger that was to pass. Gold-colored boots clacked on the white passages as a figure made its way to the outside. Thinking that no one would be around, the person opened the door and prepared to leave. A young man with gold-blond hair, wearing a uniform with a gold cape, walked up behind the individual. "You shouldn’t be out." The person spun around. She was a year younger than the lad in front of her, wearing a Sailor Scout Guardian uniform. She sported a white leotard with a golden skirt, a silver bow on the leotard, and a silver bow on the back. The tops of her white gloves were also gold, and the tiara around her head had a white gem. The girl flipped her long brown braid nervously, staring up at the fellow. Her hazel eyes cast a determined stare on him. "I know something’s going to happen, Phaethon, I just don’t know what," the girl replied anxiously. "Darkness is near. I can feel it." "Rosemary, you said you had this feeling a while ago; I don’t think there’s anything to worry about," Phaethon argued. "Don’t think just because you’re Prince of the Sun means you can tell me that there’s nothing to worry about," Princess Rosemary snapped. "I’m serious. I’m going out there." "Look, it’s the middle of the night, everyone’s sleeping, we had a grand time; can’t we just go to bed?" Rosemary glanced over Phaethon’s full attire. "You apparently haven’t been in bed. Your entire outfit is on." Phaethon blushed. "Queen Serenity sent me out on night patrol." "Please, Phaethon, let me handle this. I’m Sailor Earth, not a six year old." Phaethon sighed, knowing there was no use arguing. "All right. All right," Phaeton groaned. "Go." "Thank you! You’re a sweetie!" Rosemary threw her arms around the prince and kissed him tenderly. "Don’t worry...I go only to return." Phaeton answered, "Hurry back." The boots clicked off, echoes rebounding off the white walls. Phaethon gazed after the retreating young princess and sighed sadly. "Why must she have a mind of her own?" Princess Rosemary, otherwise known as Sailor Earth, felt the glittering stars’ light fall over her sore body. She didn’t care how much she was injured from the last battle; she just knew the Moon Kingdom, Queen Serenity, Princess Serenity, her brother Prince Endymion, and the Guardians of Princess Serenity (Venus, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune, Saturn, Pluto) depended on her. The lone Sailor Scout stood there, holding her ground, her legs stiff as boards. Any minute now... A globe of black electricity crashed into her body. Sailor Earth screamed; the assault had taken her completely by surprise. Before her was Queen Beryl, laughing, her voice dripping with malice. "Want some more?" she taunted, charging up another voltage ball. "...Aaaah!" Sailor Earth’s pause had given Beryl time to cast another attack. "This has gone too far! Earth Holy Spark!" White light soared into Sailor Earth’s fist and she punched, sending out hundreds of piercing white stars. Beryl bellowed at the attack, the stars ripping a wound in her shoulder. Her black eyes gleamed furiously, seeing the blood. "You’ll pay for that!" "Aaaah!" Another wave of black energy hit Sailor Earth before she could dodge. She collapsed to her knees, Beryl cackling evilly. "You better beg for mercy; it’s over, Sailor Earth!" "Mercury Aqua Illusion!" "Mars Celestial Fire Surround!" Both attacks smashed into Queen Beryl, who yelled out of pain and surprise. "That’s not all...Venus Love Chain Encircle!" "Jupiter Thunder Blast!" The electrical shock and gold chain resulted in Beryl becoming mad with rage and agony. She started charging another black electrical orb, ready to throw it at her aggressors. A blast of fire quickly dissolved it and Sailor Earth, who was ready to faint, turned around to see her protectors. there, uniforms and all, glaring at Beryl. "You never give up, do you?" Sailor Jupiter cried. "Bad guys don’t get away with hurting our pals!" "The Moon Kingdom will be safe from harm from your dark shadow!" added Sailor Mercury. "Stay away from Sailor Earth or we’ll give you more pain than necessary!" shouted Sailor Mars. "To protect this kingdom, we will punish you!" Sailor Venus concluded. "Why the speeches, why the speeches?" Beryl groaned. "Come along and try to save your friend...if you can!" A black force immediately surrounded Sailor Earth. Screaming with pain, she fought against the dark power. The torture was making her world blur, and Sailor Earth almost wanted to give in and die. But like a wild tiger, she struggled with the energy that bound her. She let out another piercing wail. Beryl laughed and laughed, the Sailor Scouts trying to break through the barrier... Slash. The power disappeared, and Sailor Earth fell to her knees, panting with exhaustion and aching. A gold sword clattered next to her; it had obviously penetrated the might of Queen Beryl’s power. It seemed as if everything had frozen as Phaethon stepped forward. Sailor Earth started sobbing out of pain and frustration. Instead, Phaethon picked up his sword and pointed it at Beryl’s chest. "I have reinforcements if you want to try more," he hissed. Sailor Moon, Tuxedo Mask, Sailor Uranus, Sailor Neptune, Sailor Saturn, and Sailor Pluto stood behind him and the other Sailor Scouts. A cruel smile spread across Beryl’s face. "This will be fun..." she cackled. "Don’t even think about it, Beryl," Phaethon growled. "We’re ready for anything," was Sailor Moon’s bold reply. Sailor Earth, shedding crystal tears, felt so inferior. She had lost. Sailor Earth, a sailor senshi of her planet, had been defeated by her foe. Her tears continued as she lifted herself up to her feet. "Earth...White Magic...Total...ugh..." Sailor Earth crumpled down to the ground again, her energy lost. Phaethon dropped the sword and knelt at her side. "I feel so weak..." she coughed. "No...you’re not..." Phaethon argued. "Promise me one thing..." "But..." "Beryl is going to destroy this kingdom. Please...leave me and go to Earth...with... everyone...else..." Sailor Earth slowly died. Phaethon put his arms around her not realizing that Beryl was standing above him. Tuxedo Mask noticed, but it was too late. "Phaethon! Look out..." The wave of Queen Beryl’s strength piercing through the Sun Prince’s body felt like a thousand knives. He bore it bravely, wincing, tears running down his face. He groaned and fell, his arms still holding Sailor Earth’s limp body. Tuxedo Mask, seeing his friend and sister’s deaths, yelled with anger. "Too late! The barrier is now open!" Beryl yelled gleefully. An eruption of black power shattered through the open space. The walls began to crumble as the moon shook as if a massive dragon was thrusting it back and forth. The palace was slowly but surely falling apart. Chunks of marble fell like rain, one clobbering Sailor Jupiter in the head. "Moon Tiara Magic!" Sailor Moon cried, casting her tiara towards Beryl. "Nice try!" Beryl shrieked, laughing and backfiring the tiara, which nearly sliced Sailor Moon's hand off. Each Sailor Scout, overcome by the ripple of dark magic, was killed, either by marble or by the electrical volt. Beryl cackled and vanished. Soon afterwards Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask lay together side by side, both dead, the murdered Sailor Scouts scattered around them. Nearby was Queen Serenity, laying on a fallen pillar, with Luna and Artemis, the two Guardian cats beside her. "Luna...Artemis...it is time..." "My queen, you can’t do it!" Luna cried. "I must," Queen Serenity contradicted. "I must transport my daughter and the Sailor Scouts and Prince Endymion to Earth, where they can live normal lives without any pain." "My queen, it will take every bit of your strength!" Artemis wailed. "But it must happen. The Moon Crystal...it has the power..." A white light shimmered. One by one, Princess Serenity, the Sailor Scouts, and Prince Endymion were transported. Queen Serenity, exhausted, saw Sailor Earth and Prince Phaethon, holding each other even in death. "They must be sent as well," Queen Serenity murmured. "My queen!" the cats cried. They too, transported along with Rosemary and Phaethon, vanished. The queen whispered to the stars, "Farewell," and closed her eyes for the last time. Years later, the Sailor Scouts are faced with a new enemy. Sailor Moon and her friends may conquer...but then they might not. Little do they know whom they will meet along the way...
