"AAAAAAAAAAAAH!" Rose heard the scream and immediately jolted out of Sonny’s arms. Everyone was staring in shock, and Tracey’s hands crashed down on the keys, making a frightening noise. Rose saw where the scream had come from...an unconscious girl on the floor, pale and motionless. But what made everyone stare was the horrifying creature standing over the girl. The creature was as pale as a piece of paper, with flowing green hair and long, sharp looking nails. She was dressed in a simple green tunic but bright pink petals created a skirt of it. The creature’s red lips looked like a carved pair of rubies as they moved in an O, obviously slurping something. Rose gasped as the demon made disgusting sounds as if she was swallowing... "Energy!" Rose burst. Everyone gawked at her. "That thing is...is eating that girl’s energy!" Rose’s statement turned the silence into what seemed like a bunch of chickens running around in a chicken house. The adult chaperones were trying to calm everyone down, but the sight of the demon eating made them pale and sick with fright. The girls were shrieking at the top of their lungs, and Serena had her hand close to her dress, clenched. The demon looked up, her eyes dancing wickedly. She cackled and pointed her knife-long nails at them. "I want your energy! Your delicious energy!" Flower petals and stems began to stream from the demon. Everyone screamed as the projectiles flew towards them. A couple of girls were speared to the wall by stems, writhing and wailing. Cackling, the flower demon cast its spell in the midst of confusion. Rose quickly, without thinking, grabbed Tracey and Phoebe, and knocked Sonny down with her as she fell to the ground. The four were the only ones who were shielded when a blinding flash of light filled the air. Rose opened her eyes, shivering and gasping for air. Her eyes became accustomed to the dim light, and she saw the flower demon grinning triumphantly over dozens of pale, still bodies. Rose opened her mouth to scream when a hand clamped down over her mouth. She knew it was Sonny and obediently kept quiet when Sonny took his hand off. As the flower demon scanned her prey, Rose let out a small whimper when the flower demon’s eyes trailed over the limp bodies of Serena, Darien, and the rest of her friends. Phoebe and Tracey lay there, absolutely still, their faces pale and their eyes wide. Sonny’s expression was grave and solemn, his hand protectively holding Rose’s shoulder. "I have to...to transform..." Rose murmured. "W-What?" Sonny whispered. At that moment, the sky-blue transformation pen appeared in Rose’s hands, sending rays of blue sparks. Rose gaped at it in astonishment as it sent a beam of light pointing to Tracey. Rose smiled but then scowled and got to her feet. "No more Miss Nice Sailor Scout, you flowered creep!" She tossed the sky-blue pen and it landed in Tracey’s hand. Tracey stared in wonder. "I’ve got more than two this time!" The flower demon raised its hungry lips from the body of a boy. It had been sucking out his energy. It licked its lips when it saw Rose, trying to look menacing but secretly wincing. This was the owner of the awful voice she had heard! And what was that necklace around the girl’s neck...? "Make my day," the demon snapped, its voice dripping with venom. "Sure thing." Rose unclipped the necklace from around her neck. Sonny’s and Tracey’s jaws dropped, but Phoebe smiled, a twinkle in her blue eyes. "Earth Life Force Power!" The flower youma was nearly blinded by the girl’s transformation, white light filling the room. The changing young woman winked at Sonny as she received her uniform, and her necklace once again fastened around her neck. Then, quick as a flash, she was Sailor Earth, posing in her white and black Sailor Scout uniform. "My turn to shine!" crowed Phoebe, getting to her feet. "Let me do it, Sailor Earth!" Sailor Earth shrugged, much to the surprise of the two other bystanders and the youma. "I’m not gonna stop you from being a helper." "Right!" Phoebe unfastened her brooch and held it in both hands. "Phoenix Creation Transform!" Both Tracey and Sonny were flung back when the upcoming phoenixes swarmed by them, heading for the now transforming red head. The phoenixes clustered around Phoebe and headed up in a tower, shining in a fiery glow and surrounding her. When the tower vanished, they saw a new scout, dressed in yellow and orange-red, posing next to her companion. Her red hair flowed to her shoulders, rippling at the slightest breeze. "What...what is this?" the flower youma shrieked. But then she smiled. "Pearl will be more pleased than I thought...two scouts....and even more tasty energy for me!" The youma cackled evilly, running her nails through her long hair. "Fight me, you fools!" "It’s time for our new trainee to be awakened," Sailor Earth murmured to Sailor Phoenix. "Tracey...take the transformation pen you hold in your hand, hold it up and say, ‘Sky Aura Power!’" Tracey hesitated, confused. Her ponytail quivered as she shakily stood up, her thin, shapely figure accented against the dim light. She lifted the pen high in the air, took a deep breath, and yelled, "Sky Aura Power!" Blue light filled the room. Gray storm clouds swarmed around Tracey, clustering around her and hiding her from sight. Right after that, there was a flash of lightning, and a Sailor Scout bedecked in a gray and sky-blue uniform was floating around. She winked and posed, a picture of the sky behind. The girl’s uniform consisted of a white bodysuit with a sky blue skirt. She also had a sky blue gem in the middle of the bodice, and it was also the center of her gray bow tied in her front. Another gray bow was tied around her waist, showing in the back. Long white gloves stretched over the girl’s arms, and they had sky blue bands at the tip. The outfit was finished off with a pair of blue sandals and a gold tiara on her head with a blue gem. "I won’t waste time chatting, so let’s get battling! I am Sailor Sky, the new warrior of sky and storms!" the new Senshi cried, crossing her arms menacingly. Then she sighed and turned her head. "I’m not sure I’m ready for this." "No time! Just follow our lead and do what’s natural!" Sailor Earth instructed. "Get on with it!" the flower youma snapped impatiently. "Fine, we will! Phoenix!" Sailor Phoenix felt the fiery bird flame out of her hands. "Resurrection!" The bird soared, top speed, at the flower demon. The demon watched it skeptically as it twisted and turned, watching the staring monster with its beady black eyes. For a split second, there was dead silence; then the phoenix outstretched its talons and let out a sorrowful screech. It then continued its flight, sailing feet first at the youma. It was like a volcano had erupted after the phoenix struck. Flames burst into the air, causing the three Sailor Scouts to flip backwards and shield their faces from the heat. When the smoke cleared, the startled Sailor Scouts gaped when they saw an unharmed flower youma standing to the left of the body of the crumpled phoenix. It waved its feathers weakly, losing its beautiful plumage. "What the bloody hell?" Sailor Phoenix gasped, taking her gloved arms from her eyes. "Why...why didn’t it...?" She jerked her head up in sudden realization. "You killed it! You nasty piece of..." "It can’t die," the youma replied, gazing at the disintegrating body. "That weak excuse for a bird can’t perish." "I’m gonna kill you!" Sailor Phoenix shrieked, tossing back her wavy red hair and preparing to rush forward. The crazed redhead was stopped by a small, skidding figure that zoomed in front of her. Sailor Phoenix’s blue narrowed as she saw Sailor Sky standing before her, her chest heaving with exertion and her green eyes sharp with anticipation. "Sorry ‘bout the speedy interruption, Phoenix," she panted, "but I need a try." Sailor Phoenix scowled for a second, but her expression quickly softened. "Go ahead." Sailor Earth turned to see Sonny, who was still lying there with a look of absolute confusion on his face. Her light brown eyes then darted back to the blond-haired scout who was face to face with the hungry youma. "Sky!" Sailor Sky yelled, slamming her hands together and then pressing them into the cold concrete floor. "Thunder!" Behind her, a loud rumble started to sound. Surprised, Sailor Phoenix leaped away just in time as the crackling, bellowing noise quickly got louder. "Explosion!" Sailor Sky leaped to her feet as a wave of gray energy soared at the youma. The demon shrieked as she was blasted against the wall, her pale, stick-like arms flailing like windmills. "Whoa," Sailor Earth murmured, pleased. "That was damn good for a beginner." Suddenly there was a loud, furious meow. Sailor Earth looked over to see Comet sitting on a table, swishing his tail angrily. "Aw, shut up, Comet." "That’s called ‘inappropriate language’!" Comet snarled. "Yeah...who’s the one that mutters curses whenever he doesn’t receive a treat?" Sailor Earth snapped back. She abruptly looked towards the demon that was slowly getting to her feet. "Ok...no time now." The demon’s eyes were like flashing rubies as she stepped towards the Sailor Sky. She licked her lips and let out a banshee scream, lunging at her. Sailor Earth slid forward, knocking Sailor Sky aside and sending her sprawling to the ground. The flower youma landed on Sailor Earth and began rolling around, biting and clawing. Sailor Earth felt herself weakening, but she kicked and punched, remembering her classes. "Mega Fire Flash!" Sailor Phoenix called, spreading her arms as a huge sheet of reflecting flame shot up behind her. The youma, surprised, turned to see the scout there. Sailor Phoenix stood in front of the giant flame mirror, flames shooting from wherever she stepped. The youma gazed into the wall of fire and let out a scream of pain, clapping a thin, pale hand over her eyes. Her iron grip vanished from Sailor Earth and the flower youma rolled into a corner, whimpering in pain as the flames died down. "I owe you one," panted Sailor Earth, her chest heaving from exertion. "Enemies always seem to want to do wrestling matches with me." "Anytime! Take it down, Earth, before it regains its sight," Sailor Phoenix gasped. "Gotcha. Earth..." Energy began pouring into Sailor Earth’s hands. The youma was stirring. "White Magic..." A globe of energy formed in the scout’s grasp. "Total..." The youma was rising to her feet as Sailor Earth swung her arms back, holding the ball of power. "Destruction!" Sailor Earth swung her hands forward, releasing the energy. Before the flower demon could even wince, it disintegrated to dust as the energy hit it. Sailor Sky watched in wonder...then she did something very surprising. She got to her knees in front of Sailor Earth, extending her hands in a meaning of loyalty. Her green eyes gently looked up at Sailor Earth and a sweet smile lingered on her face. "My princess...please accept me." Sailor Earth laughed, her warrior self vanishing and changing back into Rose Opal. "Of course I accept you! Enough formalities! I am Rose, and I am now a friend. Come on, Tracey, de-transform." The three scouts changed back, wearing their beautiful dance dresses. Sonny got to his feet, still not believing what he had seen. Rose spun around as she felt his hands grab her shoulders. His eyes lit up when he saw her smile, and he laid a gentle kiss on her forehead. "Thank you...Sailor Earth." The whole room seemed to be coming back to life. Students and chaperones were yawning and stretching, getting to their feet and asking where they were. Serena looked up and spotted the flushed faces of Phoebe, Rose, and Tracey. Knowing looks spread across her and her friends’ faces. "Let’s go home," Rose offered, taking Sonny’s arm. "I think we’ve had a sufficient amount of fun, don’t you?" Sonny laughed a little nervously, "Yes, my princess. Most certainly." The couple led the way out of the building.
