Rescue
1551 responds on all Structures Fires, Accidents, HAZMAT,and Vehicle Fires. It is also part of the Anthracite RIT Team response along with Summit Hill Tanker 1431. It originally served as a Mask Service Unit for the FDNY.
As a Mask Service Unit, it responded to all multiple alarms and
major incidents carrying over 450 spare air bottles. Among the responses was in 1993 to the Car Bombing at the World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan.
In 1998, we purchased the truck and began an extensive 15 month
restoration/conversion.
