Reminders:
Initiates who are student teaching in the Spring 2006 semester should turn in their membership form and pay their dues as soon as possible.
Certificates were passed out at the meeting for previous events. Certificates will be awarded for all events members participate in.
You must turn in a Service Project Proposal Form at the meeting immediately following the complete project. Service Project Proposal Forms can be found on the website.
Fundraisers:
Cookbook orders and money were due to Keli today.
Today kicks off our MANDATORY Sarris Pretzel Rod fundraiser. Boxes must be paid for ($24) before you can take them. Pretzels will be sold for $1 per pack. Additional boxes can be picked up in Dr. Farrer's office.
We will still be selling Subway coupons. They will cost $3.50. This entitles the customer to $3.50 off any purchase. Kappa will receive $1.50 from each coupon sold.
Service Projects:
Today is the last day for the Katrina Collection. The money will be sent with our members who are attending Convo this weekend in Orlando, FL to be turned in. If you donate, please fill out a Service Project Proposal Form, to possibly receive a service hour. Service hours will be awarded based on how well the form is filled out.
We will be doing no-sew fleece blankets to be donated to a local women's shelter. The blankets will be due at the next meeting, November 15th. You must fill out a Service Project Proposal Form in order to recieve your 4 service hours for this project. Please turn the forms in along with your blanket. If you have any questions about this project, please email Katie goe0349@cup.edu.
Kappa will be doing a food drive starting immediately. It is undecided at this time whether or not service hours will be awarded. More information is to come at the next meeting
Operation Christmas Child boxes will be accpted up until our next meeting, November 15th. No late boxes will be accepted because they must be shipped out on Tuesday in order to get there in time. More information on the OCC boxes can be found in the October 18th meeting minutes.
Benefit Event:
Tara Edwards spoke to Kappa about volunteering to help with a benefit event for a fellow education major, Lindsey Popelas who is in the hospital because of Hodgkin's disease. The event will be held on Sunday, November 20th from noon-5:00 at the Roscoe Fire Hall. It is a BBQ style event with music entertainment. There is a $6 entry fee donation, and it is asked that even volunteers pay the $6 to help with Lindsey's medical expenses. Service hours will be awarded for helping with this event. Volunteers will be helping to clean up, service food, and various other activities. A sign-up sheet was sent around at the meeting. If you need more information, or would like to sign-up to help with this event, please email Tara Edwards at edw1871@cup.edu.
Social Committee:
The Social Committee is in the process of setting up a bowling night for our members/initiates to get to know each other.
Shirts:
No new information is available about the shirts. We may have to look into a new printer, and it will probably be until the end of the semester before our shirts come in.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email one of the officers. Keep checking your Cal email and the website for updates.
Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, November 15th, 2005 at 11:00 AM in Keystone Room 300B.
