Operation Christmas Child:
We are asking that members create a box for Operation Christmas Child. These boxes will be sent overseas to people living in poverty. You will receive one service hour for each FILLED box that you turn in. Service hours will not be awarded if boxes are not adequately filled. Boxes should be a standard size, wrapped shoebox. Please wrap the top separate from the bottom so that the boxes can be checked. Displayed on the top of the shoebox should be whether it is for a BOY or GIRL, and also what the age range is (either 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14). Also on top of the box should be a $5 check made out to Samaritan’s Purse (to cover the shipping fees). On the memo line of the check should be written Operation Christmas Child, or simply OCC. There should also be a rubber band around the outside of the box to hold it together. The boxes should contain some of the following items: small toys, school supplies, hygiene items, hard candy, flashlight, batteries, socks, etc. The boxes should NOT contain: used items, war-related items, liquids of any kind, perishables, or breakables. Boxes should be turned in between November 1st, and November 15th. A service proposal form should also be filled out (can be found on the website) and turned in with the box. Please indicate the number of boxes on your proposal sheet. You cannot earn double service hours for both Kappa and PSEA. If you make two boxes, however, you could receive 1 service hour for Kappa, and 1 service hour for PSEA. Please turn 1 box into each organization if this is what you plan to do.
