Student Teachers:
Anyone who is student teaching should pay their dues and submit their applications before the end of the semester.  They should also meet all of their requirements by the end of the semester as well if possible.  Anyone student teaching who is not able to meet the correct number of meeting requirements should talk to Liz as soon as possible to work something out.

Highway Cleanup:
The time for the October 20th Highway Cleanup has been changed from 4:00 to 4:30.

Fundraisers:
The Ticket Sales are still Postponed until further notice.  More cookbook order forms have arrived.  Order forms and money are due by November 1st.

Katrina Donations:

Receipts are being given out for those making a monetary donation for Katrina victims.  Those who have donated should fill out a service proposal form for a possible service hour.  If the officers feel as though the form was exceptionally filled out, a service hour will be awarded.  We will continue taking donations through the beginning of November.  Donations will be taken to Convo.

Certificates:
Certificates for Awareness Day and the Roadway Cleanup were passed out at the meeting.
The following people still have certificates that need to be picked up:
                        Valerie Brickner
                                 Tammy Van Sickle
                                 Kristen Degenhardt
                                 Linda Grimes
                                 Meghan Draper
                                 Jacci Littlejohn
                                 Nina Gartley
Liz thanked everyone for their help and dedication.

Members:
Liz reminded everyone that for members, service hours count towards points.

Convo:
Amber gave everyone an overview on Convo.  They are planning to fly out the morning of Thursday, November 3rd, and fly home the morning of Sunday, November 6th.  Anyone planning to go needs to contact Marisa immediately at cro5052@cup.edu.  Fundraising will be done for possible reimbursements.

Committees:
Kahla and Amber discussed committees.  They explained that the chairperson of each committee is responsible for contacting their designated Vice President and keep them up to date on their committee's planning.  The Vice Presidents will represent the committees at the officers' meetings.  The service committees have merged.  They were asked to meet after class to set up a meeting time.  The following is the list of Vice Presidents and their designated committees.
          Amber:
                Social Committee
                Public Relations (PR) Committee
                Fundraiser Committees
                Convo Committee
         Kahla:
                Highway Cleanup Committee
                Service Committee
                Secondary Education Committee
All committees are asked to meet with each other as often as necessary to make arrangements for all activities.  You, as a committee are in charge of working out the details and being in attendance at the meetings.

Birthday Committee:
The Birthday Committee will no longer be a committee, but we will still be sending out birthday cards to everyone.  Members were asked to update their information in the directory, and new members filled out a form.

Social Committee:
The Social Committe has come up with some great ideas for Kappa members to get to know each other and have a good time.  All of these ideas are possibilities and not set in stone.  The one they are working on now is a Bowling Night.  It will be held sometime during the week, possibly at Brunswick Lanes on Rt. 51.  Other ideas are going to see a Holiday show at the Benedum, such as the Rockettes, having dinner at TGI Fridays or another restaurant, having a Monday Night Steelers Party, and possibly a shopping trip to the Waterfront.

Fundraising:
The only money that Kappa has to spend is the money that we raise.  Each member must participate in 2 fundraisers.  One of those fundraisers must be the ticket sales.  Although you are only required to participate in two fundraisers, we would greatly appreciate you participating in as many as possible in order to help our organization.  Some ideas that the fundraising committees have are gas cards, candy, pizza cards, and Avon.  More information on these fundraising ideas are to come.

Service:
The service committee is responsible for finding events for Kappa to help with in the community.  Some ideas they had were donating money to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.  Volunteers for Make-A-Wish must be 21 years of age or older, so they said that a monetary donation could be an option for us.  They considered Big Brothers & Big Sisters, however, Cal alread has a branch of the group on campus.  Other ideas they had were a Giving Tree for California Area Elementary School, passing out candy at someone's house on Trick or Treat night in California, volunteering for events at Center in the Woods, and making fleece blankets for the Women's Shelter again.

Guest Speaker:
A guest speaker, from Career Services will be coming to speak to our group on Tuesday, October 18th at 11:00.  She will be speaking about resumes, sample interview questions, questions that people cannot ask you and you do not have to answer at an interview, etc.
Dr. Melenzyzer is willing to speak with us about Board Certification and Field Experience classes.  More information and a possible date is TBA.

T-Shirts:
We have shirts from last year for sale.  Short-sleeve white t-shirts from Celebration of Teaching are $5, and Long-sleeve KDP shirts from last year are $14.  Anyone wishing to purchase a shirt should pay Keli.
We voted on colors and the design of this years shirts.  We are going with a green short sleeve t-shirt with white print.  On the front will be the KDP emblem, on the sleeve will be Cal, and on the back will be the KDP Greek letters in purple letters outlined in white, along with Epsilon Delta #124.  A sign up sheet was passed around for people to order their shirt size if they were interested.  Cost will be around $10.  Anyone wishing to order a shirt should email Keli at smi2622@cup.edu with their name and shirt size.

Requirements:
Liz once again reviewed the requirements for membership in Kappa Delta Pi.  This information can be found in the KDP membership booklet, and also on the website.

Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 18th 2005
at 11:00 AM in Keystone Room 300B.
We will have a Guest Speaker from Career Services after a brief meeting.
We hope to see everyone there!
