- An announcement was made that all Awareness
Day service proposals were due by the end of the meeting.
- We asked for everyone to write his/her birth
date on the sign-in sheet for the birthday committee to
update the records.
- Megan reviewed the requirements for
first-timers. (See past meeting notes or the Kappa
information packet.)
- If you have a problem, please talk to an
officer! While Dr. Peterson and Dr. Farrer are our
advisors, it is the officers job to take care of
any concerns of the membership.
- We have more packets of tickets to sell if
anyone is interested. Please be aware, you must
sell all 20 tickets to receive credit for the fundraiser!
It would not be fair for some to sell their
tickets and others bring back 10 unsold tickets.
You cannot turn in unsold tickets! Tickets and
stubs are due on February 14.
- We are looking into having a teacher
resource book fair. We received a catalog from
Crystal Springs Books. We are not sure if this
will be a fundraiser or a service project.
- We will not be using Avon as a fundraiser.
It was determined that we would not have enough
items to sell to turn a profit.
- Service project: Valentines for
Vets- Make 5 HANDMADE (at least) valentines for our
veterans. Please turn them in to an officer
between February 6 and February 10. We will
distribute them on February 14, to a local VA hospital,
VFW, or nursing home. You will earn 1 service hour
for this project. Remember, they must be handmade.
Credit will not be given to store-bought cards.
- Service project: We are still looking
into Project Hope and Easter baskets for kids at the
Womens shelter.
- Social Night: The Social Committee
has coordinated a pizza party on February 15, Wednesday,
from 9-11 pm in rooms 206/207 in the student union.
Pizza, potato chips, and soda will be provided.
Please plan to bring a few dollars, which will be
collected and donated to an as yet undesignated charity.
This will count as a chapter event.
- Ice Skating: The Social Committee has
also planned an ice skating event at Rostraver Ice Garden
on February 16, from 1-3. Cost will be about $8.
They are asking that everyone meets at 12:30 .
This will count as a chapter event.
- Please e-mail the social committee with any
ideas you may have for social events.
- RIF : We still do not have a date
set. It will be the first week of April.
The RIF committee will be meeting on Thursday, February
2, at 11:30 . Please e-mail a committee member with
any ideas you may have. The theme is Once
Upon a Time
(Fairy tales).
- A reminder: You must attend
Initiation! This is a headquarters rule, not a
chapter rule.
- Adopt-a-School: If you had a school
you would like to adopt, please research the school in
terms of need. (I.e., PSSA scores, size of school,
resources needed, etc.) Be prepared to present
your information on February 28. We will then vote
on a school to adopt.
- Literacy bags: You may choose a book
and fill a bag with activities associated with the book.
We will offer 1, possibly 2 service hours for this
activity. See Megan to request a book from the
books we purchased from the Scholastic Book Fair.
These literacy bags will go to our adopted school.
More information on literacy bags will be provided at the
next meeting.
- Accu-cut machine: We are thinking of
cutting various shapes and nets for our adopted school.
- Shirts: We took a vote, and decided
on hoodies. They will be about $30. We will
be asking for a deposit before we order. We also
have some t-shirts left over from previous semesters.
Anyone interested may see an officer.
- All dues, whether member or initiate, are
due on February 28! Please give your money to
Tammy, our treasurer.
- A reminder about turning in money:
Please put your money in an envelope with your name and
the event written clearly on the outside. This is
especially important with cash, but please follow the
same procedure with checks.
