INTRO:
Today was the first meeting of the new year. We started out with the introduction of our officers. Then Liz told us a bit about Kappa Delta Pi and we watched a short video about it as well.
IMPORTANT INFO:
We then overviewed the Calendar of Events, Requirements and Checklist for Kappa Delta Pi, and the Project Sheets. All of these papers are posted on the website. Liz then gave the address for our website. All service proposal project sheets must be turned in at the very next Kappa meeting after the event. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!
COMMITTEES:
After that, Amber spoke about the committees, since she will be overseeing them this semester. Each person must serve on at least one committee as one of the requirements of being an active member. Members may serve on more than one committee. No more than 8 people will be allowed to serve on one committee. Committee sign-up sheets were passed around. All of the committees will meet with each other at the next meeting. The committees are as follows:
- 2 fundraising committees
- 2 service committees
- social committee
- public relations committee (flyers)
- alumni newsletter committee
- highway clean-up committee
2005 CONVO:
Dr. Farrer spoke about Convo, which is being held November 3-5, 2005 in Orlando, FL. She also informed us that we are up for an ACE service award. Some of our members will be attending and also doing presentations. More information will be provided for those who are interested in attending.
KDP AWARENESS DAY:
Kappa Delta Pi Awareness Day is on Wednesday, September 14, 2005 in the Keystone Lobby from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM. A sign-up sheet was sent around the room. Anyone sitting at the table on Awareness Day will receive service hours.
KATRINA COLLECTION:
We are collecting books and also money to help Katrina victims with their expenses, and also to help rebuild their school libraries. Monetary donations can be given to our treasurer, Keli.
MINI-COOKBOOK SALE:
Today kicked off our mini-cookbook fundraiser. Order forms were passed out, and more will be available at the next meeting. The cookbooks are $5.50 each, and the money is due along with the order forms no later than November 1st. Checks can be made to Kappa Delta Pi. You may turn in your order forms early.
