The Fort Wayne Freedom completed the most successful regular season in the UIF. The team's only road loss was 33-30 to the Omaha Beef. After earning the number one seed in the postseason, it seemd as though the Freedom would atleast be in the Championship game. However, the Tennessee Valley Raptors pulled off one of the most incredible upsets in indoor football history. The Raptors went into Fort Wayne and came out with a 57-22 blowout victory. The team did not recover from this stunning defeat in their second season. The team lost four games decided by seven points or less, including an overtime loss to the unbeaten Sioux Falls Storm. A six game road losing streak also contributed to the Freedom's 4-11 record. Fort Wayne was third worst in passing offense and second worst in touchdowns scored. Following the season, the team was almost sold to the AF2, but when the sale fell through, the franchise folded.
