The Daytona Beach franchise entered its fourth year in its fourth different league. From the NIFL to the AIFA to the WIFL, and finally as an af2 franchise, the ThunderBirds fell flat. Three quarterbacks split time and passed for 49 touchdowns and 40 interceptions. The team converted just 31% of third downs and scored a mere 33 points per game. The two lone wins came back to back at Manchester and at home to Albany. It was announced late in the season that the team would not return in 2009.
