The Long Island Knights were a charter member of the USBL, posting a 9-15 record in 1985. After a 3-27 season in 1988, the team took a few years off and returned as the Suef in 1991. The franchise has only posted two losing seasons since. However, except for back-to-back championship game appearances in 1997 and 1998, the team has rarely made a deep playoff run.
