The Strong Island Sound were a mediocre team in their first season that made an improbable run to the semifinals before losing to the Southern California Legends. The team returned in 2006. The team started strong, winning seven of their first ten, then finishing by winning seven of their final ten. The middle of the season was subpar, which is why the Sound were on the road for their first round playoff game. After beating Quebec City, the team had a road game in Vermont about fifteen hours later. The team was unable to overcome the Frost Heaves.
