Although generally a stock horse type of riding, Thoroughbreds can also be used for western riding. Because they are fast, some may use them for barrel racing, which is a timed race pattern around three barrels. Some use Thoroughbreds for Western pleasure. Others may use them for reining, cutting, or other types of western riding.
