Announcement:
On February 9th 2004 General Ed Kelley announced that a new national Civil War reenacting organization was born. Birney’s Division is a 600 man Federal organization based in Western Pennsylvania and is the first national organization to represent reenactors from Central Pennsylvania into Eastern Ohio in major reenacting. Birney’s Division is about 4 years old, is the Federal side of the Tri State Reenactors Association which contains both Union and Confederate units. Total membership 750 men . Birney’s Division will be a reenactor friendly, no pressure reenacting, no politics organization they offer reenactors insurance with no requirements other than membership. There will be no line company structure within this organization, companies of a reasonable size will stand alone. There are no such thing as Max effort events we feel if it is fun reenactors will come. This organization is growing very quickly with this type philosophy.
