According to 1850 Census Thomas lived with his father at age 32.


James Armstrong Snelson

Death could have been 1877.

Wanda Snelson - When James first moved to Tygarts valley, he and his brother owned 100 and some acres of land, no one knows what happened.

Teresa Kisko - Info from Deb Harper states the birth and death dates on the tombstone.

Ray Bowden - James moved to Randolph County about 1840 and owned 634 acres near Huttonsville.

I James A. Snelson being of sound and disposing mind do ordaine this my last will and testament.

First after my funeral expenses are paid, for the love and affection, I have for my wife Catharine Snelson, I will and bequeath all my personal effects and depts that are due me to her.

I also give her all my household and kitchen furniture. All my farming implements. I also give her all my horses. All my sows & cattle of all kinds. Also all my hogs and sheep. I also will and bequeath unto my daughters.

Louesia Snelson, Fannie T. Shannon the wife of James Shannon, Henrietta Channell the wife of David C. Channell, Patsey T. Kimbrew the wife of John Kimbrew, Mary S. Shannon the wife of Michael Shannon, Sarah J. Snelson, Elletha Snelson, Louis Snelson & my son Thomas P. Snelson the following named tracts of land Vi2 75 acres in the County of Randolph on the waters of Cassidys Fork also 400 Acres in the same county on the Whitman Flats.

I also give to my son Thomas P. Snelson the 15 acres of land bought by me as school land and known as the Shelton Mill Seat tract. I will to my two sons Leonidas Snelson and french Snelson the 210 acre tract of land lying on the waters of Middle Fork bought by me from Wm. Hamilton heirs this being the balance of the 290 acres which was originally deeded to me. 80 acres of this tract has been by me here to forth deeded to David C. Channell. And I further appoint my executrix and require of her no security _____
