A Gathering With...

Offering You...

In today's society when some parents no longer have the time to tell children their stories or sing lullabies to their babies, and when storytelling is overshadowed by the "electronic media." Do not fear, for the Storyteller, an artist in the truest form, stands as a reminder of humanities true heritage.

KALA JOJO is one such STORYTELLER...a national favorite and a Philadelphia treasure!
A Jeli (storyteller), vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist, whose repertoire evokes African, African American, and Caribbean oral traditions. KALA JOJO has been featured at various local and national storytelling showcases and festivals.

His recent releases are also available for a real storytelling experience.

Kala's Recordings

A graduate of Lincoln University, KALA is the Associate Director of the AFRICAN HERITAGE DRUMMING CAMP for BOYS and the producer of KESWICK ANNUAL KWANZAA FES'.
KALA is a member of "BROTHER STORY DRUM" a professional storytelling trio, as well as JUBALA, a performing ensemble of storytellers, vocalists and musicians.

Known for creating an atmosphere of wholesome entertainment, both children and adults are captivated not only by his kingly stance, but also his engaging voice, personality and humor.
His gentle power engages all to participate with expressive movement, call and response and inspired imaginations as he embellishes the stories with a myriad of African instrumentation.

"Words spoken from the mind are quickly forgotten,
