| Use of Mindreader will cause only the next move used to have perfect accuracy. Detect/Protect will still cause the affected move to miss, however.
A Mindreader-influenced move also does not ignore other restrictions upon it. It can still fail to be performed due to Attract, confusion, and paralysis. Other restrictions on the functioning of a move are also taken into account. For instance: The target must still be asleep for Dream Eater or Nightmare to work. Attract can not be made to work on a pokemon that is the same gender or does not have one. One-hit KO moves will still fail against opponents of a higher level. Like all other non-damaging Normal-type attacks, Mindreader affects Ghost-type pokémon, despite their immunity to Normal attacks. Mindreader is affected by Brightpowder when the opposing pokémon is equipped with it. |

| Use of the following moves will cause Mindreader itself to fail:
Dig/Fly – Mindreader will fail during the turn that the pokemon can not be hit by most moves. This restriction does not apply to a move enhanced by Mindreader. Substitute – Mindreader will simply fail when it is attempted to be used against a pokemon with a Substitute up. The effects of Mindreader will “bridge” when a switch (either a normal one or via Baton Pass) is performed. What this means is that if a pokemon uses Mindreader, then is switched out for another, the first move used by the pokemon that comes in will receive the benefits of Mindreader. Also, if a pokemon that has just been hit by Mindreader switches out, the incoming pokemon will still be targeted by the Mindreader used by the opponent. |

| Moves that will cause Mindreader itself to fail are unchanged.
The effects of Mindreader will normally only “bridge” for the using pokemon and the pokemon that it switches to. Normally, the targeted pokemon may escape the effects of Mindreader by switching. Bridging of Mindreader to the opponent’s pokemon will still occur if the targeted pokemon switches out via Baton Pass. |
