BOOM!
Tyler grunted as he felt his entire body fall off the bed and land into the mass of dirty laundry and cds. He felt his head burting in excruciating pain, and it wasn't just because of the cd which was stabbing him in the head.
"Ohhhhh..."
Whining weakily in pain he picked up the Bob Marley cd, whose corners had just stabbed and imprinted the top of his forhead.
He flung the cd across the disoriented room and fumbled around the avanlance of clothing which occupied the foot of his bed. Finally finding his clock, he squinted and read, 11:27.
He sighed, he just wanted to go back to sleep. Last night had been a long night. He rubbed his face and used all the strength he had to get up and start his way to the bathroom. He stopped in the hallway and pushed JC's door slightly open. As he peered in, he saw his brother laying sound asleep, fully clothed. That was typical for him, but for JC, that was just strange. He pushed the door open and walked over to the small collection of books, which were neatly gathered on the desktop. He blindly picked one up and hurled it at his peacefully sleeping bro. When the book made immediate contact with his stomach, JC flew up.
"What the fuhh..." he demanded in a startled and slightly painful cry.
"Wake up," Tyler ordered, "we got things to do today."
Not even half awaked JC stared at him with a confused look.
"What?"
"Wake up," he said in a slow tone, "we have got things to do."
With that Tyler left and headed for the bathroom, leaving JC sitting on his bed, trying to adjust his eyes to the warm, bright sun.
Combing his hair to perfection, he watched the drops of water which rolled down his newly cleansed chest. He sighed as he looked at his reflection in the mirror. His eyes were a little bloodshot and he was still tired from the long night before. He smiled, just by remembering all that he could.
Chase and the guys weren't even mad. Now, it's not because they are understanding people, but only because they were so messed up on weed and beer to get angry. They had welcomed him with beer toasting and a newly packed bowl. Yup, that's the way he liked it. If him and the guys weren't in someones garage practicing, they were most likely at someones house getting wasted. He knew that drugs and shit were bad, and that if anyone of his family members found out what he did when he went 'for a drive', then there would be a severe beat down for him. Especially by JC.
Just then, JC pounded on the bathroom door.
"Hey Ty, you almost done? I need to get in there."
He turned and faced the closed door, "Yeah, just give me a minute, I need to shave."
"Hurry up," JC impatiently retorted.
Grabbing the shaving cream, Tyler quickly smeared it across the bottom and sides of his face. Knicking himself once in the process, he was out of the bathroom in two minutes flat. JC flew past him and shut the door behind. Tyler then went in his room, threw on a pair of sagging khaki's and a long sleeve white shirt, which was followed by a black AC/DC t-shirt.
Stepping out into the hall again, he made his way down the stairs and into the kitchen. He saw Justin and Heather playing around with what seemed to be cookie dough. Justin rolled up a little piece of cookie dough and was about to launch it at Heather when he noticed Tyler walk in.
"Good afternoon sleepyhead! I see you've chosen to get up late instead of waking up early and trying to make yourself useful!" he said smugly.
"Baking Justin? Well, I'm glad you've choosen to show everybody your true colors instead of just hiding them away in this teen idol pop sensation, that you've been oh so good at it doing!? Tyler backlashed quickly with a less then sincere smile.
That two just stared at each other until they both started cracking up.
"You guys confuse me," Heather said shaking her head.
Justin and Tyler rolled their eyes.
"So Ty, what are you up to today?" Justin asked picking the cookie dough out of his curly locks.
"JC and I are going to pick up my buddy Chase and drive to the music shop. Chase is gonna buy a new guitar he's had on hold. It just came in yesterday. Dude, it's awesome, you wanna come." Tyler questioned excitedly.
"Uh, well actually I..."
Before Justin could say another word, Heather broke in, "Actually he's going shopping with me and then to lunch!"
Tyler looked at his friend who was now looking at the floor. "Sorry man, she asked me, and you know it sounded like it'd be cool, so you know." Justin shrugged at his faliure to explain his reason.
"Suit yourself," he sighed, "but you're the only one who's gonna be sorry, hanging out with her."
Heather let out an insulted gasp. She then reached for a piece of cookie dough and flung it at his head. He ducked in time.
Before Tyler could act upon anything, JC came bouncing down the stairs.
"Hey guys whats up," he cheerfully asked.
"Nada," Justin responded, rolling up some more cookie dough.
"Nothin much," Heather answered doing the same.
Tyler was searching through the refrigirator when he glanced up and saw the time. It was 12:15, and he had told Chase he would be there by 12:30!
"So what are you going to do today," JC pursued Justin.
Before he could answer, Tyler grabbed JC's arm and started pulling him towards the garage.
"Sorry guys, can't talk, we're late," he rushed.
"Late? Where are we going," JC asked in confusion, "I haven't even eaten anything!"
Tyler grabbed a box of donughts from earlier that morning and pulled JC along.
"We're going out, won't be back till later, meeting my friends."
Tyler rushed his words quickly, and JC followed. Seconds later they were pulling out of the driveway and making there way for the less than 10 second drive to Chase's house.
She quietly tiptoed down the stairs and pass the living room. The last thing she wanted to do was see them. She had been up in her room all morning and she needed to get out. Creeping up to the door, she grasped the handle. She held her breath and slowly turned the door knob. She made it!
Just then her mother poked her head into the living room. "Shanay, honey is that you? Where are you going? You've been in your room all day, aren't you hungry, do you want me to make you a sandwhich?" Her mother rambled.
She looked up and silently cursed herself. Slowly closing the door she turned and faced her mother. She let out an exacerbated sigh and stated. "No mother I do not want a sandwhich, can you just please leave me alone."
"Oh but honey, just let me make you a sandwhich! You haven't eaten all day. I'm really worried, I just want you to eat something. Come on, I have turkey, don't you want that," her mother pressed.
She let out another sigh, she was in no mood for this. Her voice started to raise, "Mother, PLEASE! For the last time, NO I do not want to eat anything! For the love of god just leave me alone!!!!!"
"Shanay Bishop," her father called form the kitchen, "Don't speak to your mother in that tone of voice. Now she just wants you to eat something, so why don't you come in here and we can all eat something."
She couldn't take this, her head was bursting. She needed to get out, quick! With that she reopened the front door, and without another word stepped onto the front slamming the door behind.
As she made her way down the driveway she could still here the muffled cries of her parents trying to call her back. But the further down she went, the further away they went. That's the way she wanted it. If she could, she would be as far away from them as possible. Them and the whole god frosaken state of Maryland. But she couldn't. There would be no way of supporting herself. She had no place to go, no money to spend. The only things she had were here, and that was her band, her boyfriend, and her drugs.
When she got to the end of her driveway she stopped and looked up. It was a beautiful day. The sun was shining, and the tempreture was just right. It was just a perfect day. She wished she could enjoy it like eveybody else, but once again she couldn't. All she could think about was how long she could take living the life she did. Then again, she didn't know why she hated it so much. She just did.
She sat herself down at the edge of her driveway, going over and over in her head what she felt. The sadness was flooding her mind and spilling over into her eyes. She didn't cry, she wouldn't let herself cry. Though the tears were in her eyes she didn't let them fall, it just made her eyes sparkle in the sun, like they icy blue gems they so heavenly ressembled. She sucked it up, and brushed back the few strands of golden brown locks that had fallen onto her face. The pain of sadness and anger was rushing up and down her body, trying to avoid it she concentrated on the things around. That's when she noticed the very familiar navy blue Ford Explorer coming down the street.
Tyler's car glided down the street, as him and JC sat in silence. JC was taking all the scenery of his familiar hood in and enjoying every second of it. That is until he noticed something very familiar. The car rolled closer and closer to the girl sitting on the driveway. He kept his eyes locked on her, she looked so familiar. Tyler looked over at JC and noticed his stare.
"She's hot isn't she," Tyler questioned.
JC didn't answer. She looked so familiar. The girl followed the car with her eyes, and that's when JC saw it. He saw those eyes before, the ones the sun was making glisten and dance. He knew, he had followed that same dancing before. He felt his stomach drop followed by his mouth. He didn't take his eyes off her, even when the car passed her by.
JC looked back, and Tyler was staring at him. JC turned to fine Tyler still staring at him.
"Her name is Shanay Bishop, and she's 18 years old, if you must know," Tyler offered. "She's hot isn't she."
JC shifted in his seat uneasily. "Uh, yeah, she's cute, you know her?"
"Yeah kinda, her band and mine are cool," he commented.
"Actually after we pick up Chase, and get the guitar, we're gonna go over to her band rehearsal. We need to talk to some bandmates about club arrangements." Tyler turned onto Chase's driveway. He was sitting on the steps of his porch smoking a cigerette.
"Club arrangements?" JC continued.
"Yeah, her band and my band are going to perform at the same club this week, it'll be cool, you'll have fun. Yeah, and don't worry, you'll meet her later." He smiled and patted JC on the back, then stepped out to join his friend on the porch.
"Meet her..." JC reapted to himself. He took a long sigh and had a bad feeling it was going to be a long day.
