Chapter 1
"SAM!!! CATCH!" Joey
calls as he throws the football at me. "JOEY,
NOOOOOOOOOOO!" I return, but I catch the ball
and fire it back at him as soon as everyone runs toward me. After
Joey performs his little "victory dance" in the
end-zone he runs over to me, picks me up, and spins me around,
his cheeks and nose a bright red from the autumn air.
"Thanks, Sam. You helped win the game."
"No problem, hot shot." I smile at him. Joey jabs my
side, which makes me squeal.
"I'm not a hot shot, stupid head."
"So we're back in kindergarden again, are't we?" my other best friend Danni, or Dannielle, asks me and Joey.
"What's with all the name calling?" I just smile and start laughing.
"Well, Danni, you have to agree with me, Joey is a hot shot."
"Oh, yeah baby, he is HOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT." Danni
remarks sarcastically.
"Sam, you're the only one who thinks he's hot." I blush furiously, and reach out and hit Danni in the side. Danni just starts laughing.
"Well, ladies, I better go." Joey says and gives me a
quick hug. "I'll call you later Sam."
"K, Joey. Talk to you then." I wave as Joey runs off.
"DANNIIIII, you weren't suppose to say anything about
that!" I hiss at her when Joey's out of earshot.
"Well, someone's got to do something. I mean, EVERYONE knows that you like Joey. I think Joey should know too."
I sigh, "Yeah, but we're just friends, and that's how it's
going to be."
"You guys already act like "boyfriend/girlfriend"
I just think you need to make it official."
"Yeah, maybe."
"Well, there's my bus. Catch you later."
"Later Danni." I take my walk back to my house which is
a short distance away. I look up to Joey's house which is right
next to my house.
Wanna know the cool thing?
Joey's bedroom is like right across from mine. Sometimes we open
our windows and talk like that late at night. We know just about
everything about each other. Our dads even work together. AND
Joey is only a week older than me, he brags about that sometimes.
BUT ANYWAY, Joey's bedroom light isn't on, so I wonderwhere he is. I figure that I'll find out later, and DID I ever.
