My Idea And Opinion Page

This Week's Opinion: "How can someone have the nerve to say the Beatles suck, and furthermore how in god's name can they come up with enough valid facts to support their opinion?"

*DISCLAIMER* (There are links on section of the site that lead to Anti-Beatles pages. The Beatles are my favorite band of all time and I am in no way, shape or form promoting what these sites have to say. Still, check them out for a good laugh at these ignorant idiots trying to make a stupid arguement that they can't possibly win.)

And I quote from the website Let It Be: The Beatles Runied Everything

"Just a year or two ago, as the Red and Blue album reissues enabled you to buy the same songs for the fourth or fifth time, news of a BBC documentary reuniting three Beatles in a studio made headlines. The media gusher celebrating their Sullivan debut's 30th anniversary further primed the market for the upcoming ex-Beatle Stu Sutcliffe biopic, Backbeat (and its alt-rock remake soundtrack). The frenzy peaks with the canned reformation of all four playing to an unreleased Lennon vocal track. The Beatles are rock's sacred cow, everything from their suit-and-tie dopey pop to their '68 high-concept indulgence ballyhooed as "perfect rock" marked by "consistent artistic" growth and "emotional maturity."

Psssssshhhhhhhh...first off I would like to point out that the people who usually make these "Beatle Hater" pages usually have very poor taste in music and no ture concept of what "Rock n' Roll" really is. And they are very ignorant in brushing off something that makes so many people so happy as nothing.

Capitol Records released the Beatles Red and Blue albums so that the Beatle's songs were packaged in a way that young people could best enjoy them and grow to love their brilliant music. The first Beatles cds that I ever purchased were the Red and Blue Greatest hits albums. If a band that this person like made a greatest hit album would he be complaining...I highly dobut it.

Their appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show marked the begining of era and was hailed by musicians, rock, critics, and rock journalists everywhere to be the single, most significant television rock n' roll moment. It wasn't just another tv performance, it broke barriers and shattered precedents much like many of the bands today do following in their footsteps.

Considering the wealth of wonderful material they had to ofer the world wouldn't people be very interested in three new songs by the greatest rock band of all time?!?!? Their '68 high-concept indulgence was "ballyhooed" as perfect rock marked by consistent artistic growth and emotional maturity because that's what it was. They were always improving and raising the bar for other bands.

"The Beatle Hater's Homepage" give the following quotes and song lyrics in support of their ridiculous theory.

"And my brother's back at home with his BEATLES and his Stones....what a drag" --All The Young Dudes, Mott the Hoople, "In 1977...no Elvis, BEATLES , no Rolling Stones...." --1977, The Clash, "All that phony Beatlemania has bitten the dust..." London Calling, the Clash

Ohhh what a strong arguement considering that no one knows who the heck Mott The Hoople is, and that the Clash had 2 years in spotlight in the late 70s and then burned out. Now don't get me wrong I really, really do like punk music, but it seems that all the punk bands that were successful such as Blink-182, Green Day, and The Offspring seemed to embrace the strong creative influence of the group. The reason why The Clash and Mott The Hoople probably were as terrible as they were is because they failed to embrace the brilliant, creative works of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Geroge Harrison, and Ringo Starr, and to set new standards for themselves. Plus if you look at the bottom of the page it says..."There are so much great music to listen to!", hmmmm interesting choice of grammar buddy, maybe you should listen to more Beatles music the enriches you mind instead of all those other crappy bands that will rot it.

SCORE ONE FOR THE BEATLES FANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
