RE Outbreak - on & offline?
Capcom has said that not only will Resident Evil Outbreak (aka RE Online) be an online game, but it will also be able to be played offline, as well. It seems that Capcom changed the name of RE Online to RE Outbreak realizing that the "Online" in the title may be misleading, making consumers think that this will be an online-only title. But the name change itself does confirm that the game will be playable offline, too.
A Capcom Producer's Day is scheduled just before E3, so it is likely they will give out more information about the game. Capcom also noted the follwing pieces of information about RE Outbreak.
- Players can now 'harm' eachother - for example, when a person has crossed a bridge, he/she has the ability to destroy the bridge, making the other players on the opposite side find another way
- You will learn new moves (?) during the game. Moves of which you'll be able to use on your teammates
- There are no more fixed camera angles. The camera will move dependent of what is taking place on screen
- If a player dies, the team will continue moving on without him/her. The deceased player will then be able to play as a zombie
- The game is scheduled for a 2003 release in Japan
