It was becoming exceedingly clear to his followers that while his methods succeeded in intitiating the Revolution, his hard character would not be able to sustain the revolution for very long. The problem finally reached its apex with the resignation of Flying Haddock as Lond's spokesman. Flying Haddock had put is reputation on the line for the Revolution, and Lond's sordid actions tarnished the Haddock. It was during this episode that Lond realized that his very presence doomed the Revolution.
Many ships have stated that if the Revolution actually had a face, they would follow. Well, now it does, in the form of a smiling if horrendously battered penguin.
It has become increasingly clear that most ships are staying neutral in this conflict because neither side is offering them anything. Lond contended that the favor should be all that is necessary for motivating smaller ships. This is not the case, and some small ships have even decided to praise Wolverine, in effect giving away that which Lond said they should covet. In order to remedy this situation and to hopefully motivate many more ships, I am issuing "Pengiun Favors" to all ships who join in denouncing Wolverine. Each new ship that denounces will recieve 1 penguin favor for each point of engineering favor taken from Wolverine. These favors can be redeemed with myself or one of my allies that chooses to redeem penguin favors. In recognition of the extreme sacrifice of those already excommunicated, all heretics will recieve double penguin favor for denouncing, and any ship that is attacked by a follower of Wolverine will also recieve penguin favors as long as they try to minimize their losses. Also, should those with penguin favor turn and praise Wolverine, they will lose 5 penguin favors for every point they praise.
A penguin favor has a set value. The set value is equal to 3 times the face value in energy. Therefore, 15 penguin favors can be cashed in for $45. I also fully expect that penguin favors can be circulated like money. So, if you give someone some of your penguin favors they can expect to redeem them with me or my associates.
Since penguin favors are earned by denouncing, there is very little room for fraud, and current totals will be displayed on a page that I will create. Penguin favors can be redeemed before Wolverine is out of office, as I understand that those that think he can't be put out will not denounce if you think your PF's could never be redeemed. However, if you hang onto your PF's until after Wolverine is removed as Prophet, I will give you an extra 25% on your investment.
Who is eligable for penguin favors? Anyone who is not a sponsor. If you are going to begin denouncing because you want to collect PF's, please contact me to tell me that you are doing so (dwr00@hotmail.com). If you don't, and I didn't know you wanted to earn them, it would complicate matters later on. This way, if I am notified, I can set up an account that you can access to check your balance. Also, if you trade PF's with another ship, I need to hear from both parties so I can transfer the balance. If you were a heretic before turn 581 and have still denounced, you are eligable for PF back-pay. However, everyone else will have to wait until turn 581 runs (next turn) to begin acruing PF's.
In addition to the penguin favors, any ship that denounces Wolverine will have my gratitude.
Also, if you are one of the ships that recieved threatening email from Lond, his followers apologize. His intent was to scare you into supporting the Revolution. However, we are not like Wolverine, as we do not support the intimidation of ships to reach an end.
