Here is the novel Before Shadowgate! It leads right up to where the NES's Shadowgate starts. Okay I don't know for sure, but I am 90% certain that the novel is the same as the story Before Shadowgate that you can read off of shadowgate.com's website. If you want to read it I would read it for free off of shadowgate.com. It's free that way and the original version is out of print.
