Tenel Ka was born to Teneniel Djo, a Dathomirian witch, and Prince Isolder of Hapes. Her mother thought her the ways of the Dathomirian witches and allowed her to dress as a worrier. Her grandmother, Ta'a Chume, never approved of her wild ways, but Tenel never cared enough to please her.

The young heir to the Hapes thrown tried to deny her royal heritage for a while, but soon realized that she could not run from it, but embrace both her mother and father's life styles.

Tenel Ka, against her grandmother's wishes, left to train at Luke Sywalker's Academy Even though she is talented in the Force she prefers to use her physical abilities first and Force abilities second.

Through a near deadly accident with her newly and poorly built lightsaber she lost her arm, while fighting against Jacen Solo.
