X'Treme Roller for PSX and N64

Well its about fucking time wouldn't you say. After Tony Hawk has been making games for almost 2 years we finally get a rollerblade game. Now from what I can see this game is unlike THPS or that Matt Hoffman game. This game while having aggressive elements is more geared toward racing. However it still looks pretty sweet. Now the nice people at Microids were good enough to send me a promotional package, but I haven't even tried this one out yet so I wouldn't be the best one to review the game. However here is what they have to say about it:
‘X’treme Roller’ offers a unique mix between in-line skating, racing and combat. In a futuristic universe, players not only have to win races but also perform tricks to beat their opponents.

A strong story line for a racing game
‘Extreme Roller’ is not just a series of different races. The player will start the game as either Blakki or Mae Wing. However, they will be able to form an eight-player team with the simple objective of winning the World Championship. Albeit they will have to overcome the pretentious current World Champion ‘Big Buzz’ in their quest for glory.

Three challenges for emmersive game-play
The principle aim of ‘Extreme Roller’ is to reach the finish line before your competitors. Along the way you will have to perform tricks. These range from the very simple to the very difficult, but will gain you precious points. During the races, however, you will be called upon to challenge the ferocious Big Buzz team. ‘Extreme Roller’ is the one game within this genre to offer this unique triple challenge.

A performing engine for high-speed impressive races
‘Extreme Roller’ is built around a particularly fast 3D engine, giving an incredible sensation of speed. When the player performs a trick or a combo; speed remains constant and requires an aptitude for both skill and timing from the player. As well as ‘career’ and ‘tournament’ modes, the game also offers a two player split screen option.

Taking advantage of one of today’s most popular sports/leisure activities, it revitalises the sporting genre with the added value of a strong storyline, which includes many new and unique features. Incorporating ‘manga-esque’ style characters; Extreme Roller will certainly find its niche within the youth and teenager culture of today’s market
