Ok, so softball is my sport

I can't deny it. If I could do nothing but play the game for the rest of my life, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Not professionally, but I would love to play everyday. I'm currently on 2 different teams in 2 leagues, and what a difference between the two. In the women's league, we have finished dead last for the past 2 years. In the co-ed league, we've been the champions for 2 years. I have the same coach for both teams, and a lot of the same players too. So what is the problem with the women's team? Come to a game and tell us, PLEASE! Our home field is at West Perry High School.
The 2000 Season is going to prove to be very interesting!! With our "core" of returning players, plus several new ones, we are in for some fun for sure! Aside from Herb's new woman, I'm one of the oldest players on the team. a few years ago Patty and I were the youngest. What the heck is going on?? We've got some talent, and we certainly can hit the ball. Its our fielding(as ALWAYS) that will be our downfall. But hey, I've learned one thing in the 21 years that I've been playing this game, and that's to always expect the unexpected. Besides, this league is purely for fun....if it would be serious, we'd have a severe problem!!

In previous years, our team has been pretty decent, we had been #2 in the league until several of our original players either got married, had kids, or decided that they were just too old to play anymore. I'll never think that way. I want to die on the field in some horrifying accident. Last year in our league, the oldest player was in her 50's. That's not really very old at all. I wanna be playing when I'm 90.
In 1998 we went to a tournament in Lewisbury and took second place. Not bad for a team who had only 2 wins on the season!! That tournament was cool, and a lot of fun, even though there was a girl there who looked JUST LIKE DEREK JETER! Now, given my obsession with him, its easy to see why I still am somewhat confused by that whole ordeal. And even now I still hear about "the chick who looked like Jeter". I'll be scarred for life. But just for the record, I have talked to this girl and she's very nice. And yes, I did mention to her that she could pass for Jeter's twin sister.

In 1999 we went to the same tournament and finished dead last. What the hell?

Our players

Ok, this is me and Heather. Heather is one of those kids where it doesn't matter what the sport is, she just plays it extremely well. But I must say I did show her up this season, with my 6 homeruns....I had predicted that I would hit 10. Well, there's always the 2000 season. I'm ready to play today....but practices will start April 25, so I have no choice but to wait.

Patty has been a friend of mine since back in the day when we played on the little girls' NewBloomfield town team. We had an awesome team for 2 years in a row, being the champions for both years. Funny how years later when we reached high school, most of our little girls' team players played for the high school team and we were not very good at all.
Patty sort of "inherited" our league team after our coach left us 5 years ago. So she had the wonderful duty of being captain, coach and player. I feel as though the team is party MINE because I've secured the sponsorship for us since 1995. This year is the first time that we've had a full time coach-Herb. Herb kinda likes me, so I think thats part of the reason why he picked Patty and I as co-captains this past year. Patty just had her second child, but at least she listened to me this time and planned it around our season. The kid was born in the beginning of May, and our first game is June 6, 2000. I expect her to be ready to play the first game. She was playing left field the day before she gave birth, and was hitting fielding practice 2 weeks after . ( don't let her fool you, she loves the game almost as much as I do-I want her to do a head-first slide this year but I bet she won't!!)
Our 1999 team was made up of players from 3 of the county's 4 school districts. It looks as though we will have every school represented in the 2000 season.

This is me and Amanda in 1998.She played for a different team in our league, but I won her over and she played for us in 1999. And yes, this is the Amanda that Beav had a crush on, and the same one who Joanna and I told Beav that she had a lesbian affair with her college room mate. What is rather amusing is that I could tell that same story to him about a different person on my team, and it would be true. But I think I'll just keep that one to myself.
