I enjoy my vehicles....so what?

I got my Beetle when I was 16. I actually purchased it on Friday the 13th...I thought it was a bad omen, but here it is 12 years later and my Beetle is still going strong. It wasn't all easy-it was wrecked when I bought it, and I think I got a real deal because I only paid $450 for it. It has had 3 engines and 3 paint jobs since 1897, but it is worth every penny spent.. I can't drive it anywhere without someone asking what year it is and then they ask what I think of the New Beetle. My opinion on the New Beetle: well, if you like it, good for you. It doesn't do anything for me. I'll stick to my old one.

How I fell in love with Cavaliers

My Beetle is a good car, but when I got a job after High School, I had to travel about 70 miles every day. The Beetle wasn't gonna live very long if I did that to him. Besides, I didn't want to drive the VW in the winter because the salt from the roads would make it rust. My dad found a 1987 Cavalier RS for $4000. He brought it home one night, it was dark so I really couldn't see it. I had to be at work at 6 am the next morning, so I drove the Cavalier to work in the dark. it wasn't until lunchtime that I could go outside and see this car I now owned. Well, it was love at first sight. Over the years I had financial trouble, and I promised myself if I ever got things turned around I would buy a new car. As things got better and my bank account grew, I knew there was one car I had to have...that was the 1993 Cavalier RS Convertible. My original plan was to get midnight blue with tan top and tan interior. 1993 is the year they stopped tan tops, so i went with my second choice-black on black with gray interior. I ordered it from the factory, so I had to wait over a month for it to be built and shipped. As fate would have it, the dealership called me one night around 9 pm to tell me my car was in....so once again I took my new car to the road without ever seeing it. the next morning it was a little chilly, but I drove it all around with the top down.. I've always said that Cavaliers are excellent cars in the snow, I drove my '93 thru the beginning of a blizzard....there was 8 inches of snow on unplowed roads....the snow was packing under my car and pushing into the engine. I had to pull over several times to open the hood and brush the snow out. Snow was even blowing thru my defrost vents. Anyway, I knew that car could do anything. What I didn't count on was a snow and ice storm in 1995.A few days before Christmas I totalled my most prized posession...

The White Cavalier

I was scanning the classified section of the newspaper when I saw it. A 1993 Cavalier RS Convertible. Black on white, 35k miles.. Well, I needed a car and this was the one. Exactly 2 weeks after destroying my black car, I had the next best thing-a fully loaded white one. The only real difference is the fact that my white car is an automatic. The black one was a 5-speed.

I plan to keep my white car for as long as I can. The new Cavaliers don't turn me on as much as the 1988-1994's. And Z24's always make me look twice when one goes by.
I had a slight "incident" with my white car recently, involving a deer and my front end. When it goes to be repaired, its being painted black. Comparison pics are here!!!
Blazer

I decided that I don't want to kill another car in an ice storm, so I bought a 1985 Chevy Blazer. I've owned it for over 2 years but its only been in my posession for a grand total of 8 months. its been in the garage the rest of the time. A new engine, transmission, another new engine because the first one was defective.....but whats cool is that I never had to pay for any of this. I traded my old computer for the new engine, and the transmission was under warranty. And the defective engine was also under warranty. If I ever get my truck back, it should run like a new one!!
