The Last game of the 2000 season

The last game of the 2000 season was Wednesday, May 10. It was a home game vs. Chambersburg, one of the best teams we faced all year. I personally thought the game would be a nightmare, but much to my surprise, we played decent defense and played 5 innings against this team. I'm not sure what the final score was, but it was not too bad. This team has incredibly fast pitchers, and once again this game was a no hitter. Thats not to say our team couldn't hit....they hit quite well, but each hit was directly to a fielder. After the game we had pizza and soda and I'm sure I have no idea how water balloons and squirt guns made it down to the field, but it was a fun way to end the season. I wish we could have pulled off a win, but in my opinion, the season was a success. When I look back to the first practices when certain infielders couldn't throw the ball more than 5 feet, or when a player really didn't even know how to hold a bat properly, I can see how much they have improved over the course of this season. Mr. Schatz and I guaranteed each player that they would be improved in at least one area of the game before the season was over....I think we made good on that promise. Whether it be improved skills, or a better understanding and appreciation of the game, I know everyone walked away from this season with a little more than what they started with, and that's all I ever wanted in the first place.

Abbey lunged toward the runner to make a diving tag....the runner was safe, but it was a great try!

Erin with the cut-off.

Nicole knows what I want her to think when she's got 2 strikes on the batter...I want her to "do her thing."
.

Stacey Orris just will not let me take a picture of her!!

Somehow Jen got a little wet after the game...but it was fun.

Um, ok I think Heather was chewing on pizza or something here....
