
Question: is the lack of older tunes such as blue water and spotlight due to actually forgetting them or is it apprehention of how current crowds would react to them?
DaveMtthws: we don't play some of the older tunes because of both boredom and forgetfulness. some of the older tunes may find their way back though
Question: Where does the name "Bama Rags" come from?
Stef & Cart: It was an inside joke
DaveMtthws: And Bama Rags was an acceptable alternative to swaddling clothes.

Stefan: We have several that are in the works. They'll pop out as they pop out
Question: why didn't your first album come out in the stores untill recently, I had to send away for it.
DaveMtthws: Who's running your record store and why?!!
Carter: Cause we didn't have the money

Question: I have a question regarding taping of shows, do you allow it and what do you think of fans trading tapes of your shows?
DaveMtthws: It's the best free promotion we've come across and of course we allow it!
Question: Guys, what are some of your musical influences?
Carter: Tiny Tim, John Denver, Willie Nelson. The real cats: Max Roach, Miles Davis, John Coltraine, and my main man, Dennis Chambers.
DaveMtthws: John Denver, The Beatles, Dollar Brand, Pink Floyd, Vivaldi, sex and hangovers.

Question: Dave many times you have talked about the many uses of cheese, what is your favorite?
DaveMtthws: sharp cheddar in block form.
Question: My favorite song is satellite. Did you write that song and who did you write it about?
DaveMtthws: I wrote it for my mother. I write everything for my mother and my family.
Question: Dave, Do you think that you would like to perform at a few smaller shows (maybe acoustic solo)? I miss the the days long ago when you could simply dance at the Floodzone without the bodysurfing, fights, etc. and just listen to your music.
DaveMtthws: Right now we're surfing a wave. I don't know what the future holds but I miss yesterdays too.
Question: Are you still on good terms with your old keyboard player and what is he up to nowdays?
Stefan: He's bartending at the club where Dave used to bartend, and we're all still very, very good friends. And he's building a house :)
Question: Dave, I just saw you last night!!!! I loved it, I also saw you at Dartmouth. How do you prepare yourself for a show? And do you know the band River from Alexandria?
DaveMtthws: I play ping-pong and i'm not sure.
Question: Hey- I've listened to you guys for the past three years (used to live in Charlottesville)- Any chance that Peter Greisar might record/perform with you guys in the future? I loved watching you every week at Trax- you're fantastic!
DaveMtthws: We still jam with Pete, usually in the confines of his house.
Question: Did you know Hootie and the Blowfish before you started the tour with them?
Carter: We played with them once last summer. Right now we're out with Big Head Todd.
