The next morning, Leighanne woke up and wandered downstairs looking for Brian. She saw him sitting at the kitchen table. He was sitting hunched over, staring at his hands.

"Brian, are you alright?" Leighanne asked gently.

He looked up at her with tear-filled eyes.

"Oh, God, Brian, what happened?!"

"They ruined it."

Her face fell. "Oh, I'm sorry. Who did it?"

"The Firm!" Brian said angrily. "One management wants you to reschedule heart surgery, and the other a wedding. I'm sorry, Leighanne." He slipped his arm around her.

"Brian, please don't cry, we can choose another date! We didn't even schedule anything."

"I know, but it was perfect."

"We'll worry about that later. You didn't tell me what the Firm is making you do, baby."

"We're going to Europe for a tour."

"Maybe I can go with you!"

"I hope so."

"I can't last that long without you."

"Me, neither, so they had better let you or else I will have ANOTHER thing to complain about."

"How long's the tour?"

"It's only a month long, but it happens to be the entire month of June! We have a concert on the seventeenth, the eighteenth off, concert the nineteenth, and then four days off, then the rest of the tour. What kind of tour do we get four days of doing nothing, so far away from home!! They're trying to make me mad, I think 'cos the days off are exactly two days after our 'planned' wedding."

"Calm down!! It's only March, we have plenty of time between then and now!"

"I know, it's just.."

She gently lifted his head and said, "It's just nothing. We love each other and we're going to marry each other and have a family. End of story."

"Thank you," he responded softly.

They sat there in silence staring at each other. Leighanne was finally beginning to understand how much work they would have to put into their wedding to work with their schedules, but still be private.

"Hey, I know!!" Brian suddenly exclaimed.

"What?"

"We'll get married December 26!!! All the family will already be together for the holidays, and it will be beautiful!! There will be snow on the ground that will make everything sparkle. It will be great."

"I guess so, but we won't know what your schedule will allow."

"We'll be off for the holidays, so it won't matter!!! This is great!! Please say you're happy..."

"Honey, I'm happy if I'm with you, and if you're happy."

"Thank you, you're so understanding, important to have when you're working with the Firm and everyone," he smiled ruefully, and then they prepared their breakfast and decided that they had to live each day that they had without interruptions from Brian's job.
