"I've thought about it," Brian said when he called her again.
"And what did you decide?"
"Well you're the only reason that I stayed sane through all the craziness in my life. I always knew that when I came home you would be there waiting. I'm going to quit the group."
"No! I can't let you do that. I'm one person. I would be happy, but millions wouldn't."
"But you matter more than the others."
"Whatever."
"What do you want me to do then?"
"I don't know."
"I'm leaving."
"If you do, Brian, I'll never talk to you again."
"You've said that before."
"I mean it this time."
"That's a risk I may take. Good-bye."
He hung up. Brian thought for awhile about the seriousness of the situation he faced. He called Kevin.
"Hello?"
"Hey, Kev, this is Brian."
"How's everything going? Have you found her yet?"
"Yes, and I think I'm going to quit the group."
"You what?! I thought you loved doing this."
"Don't you remember what happened when you called? I was all excited during school, but once I got home I didn't want to join. I didn't want to leave my family, but my mom forced me to do the audition because she thought I would regret it later in life if I didn't."
"Have you talked to management or Jive?"
"No."
"You had better!"
"I know, I just wanted to tell you."
"What brought it on?"
"The fact that I realized when I do marry Leighanne I'll never see her because of our stupid fans. She's never allowed to tour with us again. If we started a family I won't be there to see them grow up or play sports or whatever else they do."
"I see where you're coming from I guess, but this isn't going to go so well."
"I know. I gotta go call them. Talk to you later, k?"
"Yeah, see ya man!"
"Bye."
He sunk back in the chair. The next phone call would be the hardest of his life.
