Brian lay back on the bed and thought to himself. What if she wasn't there? What would he do then? He slowly stood up and walked over to the stereo. He turned on the radio and hummed along. "I Could Not Ask For More" by Edwin McCain came on and he quickly shut it off. He quietly lookd over at the chair where they had sat months ago singing that song and watching the sunset. He turned away and walked into the closet. He pulled out one of the bags he took on their most recent trip. He dug through it until he came out with the CD case. He unzipped flipped back a few pages and pulled out their Millennium CD.
"All I need is my mother right now to make everything all better," he thought to himself. Since he couldn't have her with him, he decided he would call her, but only after listening to "The Perfect Fan." He placed the CD in the stereo and pressed the play button. He heard the opening bars of "Larger Than Life" and swore aloud. He pressed the next track button and continued cursing until the next song began. Brian helped write "Larger Than Life" as a dedication to the fans, yet it was their fault that Brian's world was being ruined. He continued skipping through the tracks to get to number twelve, when "Back To Your Heart" came on. He froze and listened. He listened to the whole song through, then realized that it explained his situation with Leighanne perfectly.
"You are my world; what can I do? This heart of mine belongs to you," he solemnly sang as he walked back downstairs. That line was sticking with him more than the others. He then knew that he had to without a doubt call Leighanne's mother instead of his own.
He went into the kitchen, dragged a chair over to the phone, sat down, and dialed. "Hello?"
"Mrs. Wallace?"
"Yes?"
"Hi, this is Brian."
"Oh, Brian, it's so great to hear from you! How's everything been going?"
"Awfully!!!"
"What? Why? The group isn't breaking up, is it?"
"No, no, nothing like that, although that would be nice for me."
"What happened?"
"I can't find Leighanne."
"You what?!"
"I'm sorry."
"What did you do to her?!?!" Leighanne's mother sreamed angrily.
"Look, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have called you. I'm trying to find her. If you want to help me then you can, otherwise I guess you've lost a daughter!" Brian exclaimed, then slammed down the phone.
"Where could she be if she wasn't at her parents?" Brian thought.
