Kevin awoke the next morning to the sound of a phone ringing. He snatched up the reciever and groggily said, "Hello?"
"Hi, Kevin, it's A.J."
"Uh, hi. What's going on?"
"I don't know. What are we going to do today?"
"I have no idea! I'm still asleep."
"I don't feel like working on the album."
"Why? A.J., what's wrong? You were so excited yesterday."
"It's just that right now I can't think of lyrics or try to sing lyrics that are about being happy in love."
"What?"
"My heart shattered into a billion pieces last night. I'm gonna miss Liz so much!"
"Ugh, A.J.!"
"What? Aren't you going to miss her? Of course, but I've been through this before. We made it. Everything is gonna work out. Now, can I go back to sleep?"
"Well, what are we going to do today?"
"I don't know. I wanna sleep."
"But we haven't planned anything yet!"
"A.J.?"
"Yeah?"
"Tell me if this sounds like I'm hanging up."
Kevin hung up the phone and snuggled into his bed. Then he heard a light tap on the door. Then Beth slowly walked in. Kevin sat up and greeted her. "Good morning."
"Kevvy, do you think I did the right thing?"
"Where is this coming from?"
"My heart. I heard you on the phone, and I could kinda hear what A.J. was saying."
"Don't worry about it. Everything will work itself out. If you don't like it, you can come back here."
"That's true. I guess you're right."
"Just do whatever keeps you happy."
"Thanks, Kev. I'm sorry. I'll let you go back to sleep."
"I'm actually getting up now."
"But you told A.J. you wanted to sleep."
"That's 'cause he was annoying me."
"That is so mean!"
"I know," he said with a develish grin. He stood up and stretched. Then they walked downstairs to get some breakfast.
