At the same time Nick was getting so should it be said trying to get his left back together. Everything seemed to be fine but he still worried for Kate, that he may never see her again. Then there came a knock at the door his Jane answered.
"Hey Brian how you doing" Jane asked letting him in.
"I'm good what about Nick how's he doing now that he's home?" Brian replied walking in.
"Good antsy but that's normal for him other wise doing good" Jane answered.
"Hey Mom I'm going for a walk OK, Brian if you want you can come to" Nick stated before he left.
"You got in hon. be careful and watch out" Jane answered as Brian walked to the kitchen.
"I'll go with you Nick I need to talk to you to begin with" Brian stated walking next to him.
Once outside Nick turned to Brian "So what was it that you need to talk to me about Frack?" Nick asked.
"Well and if this is nothing of my business you can tell me that OK just get need to know are you truly OK. I mean you seem kind of down lately is there anything I can do to help" Brian answered.
"I know I haven't been my self lately Bri it's just I'm worried about someone is all" Nick replied.
"So you did meet someone in Boulder? Brian questioned hoping he would talk to him.
"Yea I did Bri and she was one of a kind I love her I truly do but she gone now and I don't know if I will ever see her again" Nick replied sitting down on the sand.
"You want to talk about it but if you don't I'll understand" Brian offered sitting down next to him.
"Now really Bri right now it's just to painful maybe another time so how's married life been treating you?" Nick retorted getting the subject off him.
Brian knew not to push any more to let Nick come to him when he needed to. However, there was something that bothered him still about this whole mystery lady of his he didn't know why but it did. For the next few hours they spend talking and getting thing's back to what there were. Nick didn't seem so down afterward and that brought a smile to Brian's face this was the Nick he knew the Nick he missed and hoped would never leave. However, what Brian didn't know was that even though Nick was smiling his heart was still hurting not as much but still missed her.
'Maybe in time it will be something to happen but I know she needs to work out what ever it is that she has to do' Nick exclaimed to himself.
Week's pasted by and gradually Nick's shoulder got batter not back up to a hundred percent but just enough so that he could start the tour without to much pain. Finally after about two weeks on tour together Nick told Brian everything that happened between Kate and him and then that was when Brian understood everything. Moreover, his heart went out to Nick yet, he never told anyone else and neither had Nick. He was going to tell Kevin but every time he got the change someone would walk in he really did know how to even tell him or Howie or even AJ for that matter. Yet, he knew one day he would have to tell him and that day would soon come. Meanwhile Kate had stayed in Houston until the last week of April almost to the beginning of May she turned in the truck she had rented and found that her Mustang she had received from her on her nineteenth birthday was still there. She left most of her things at her place in her room she would be back when she wasn't really sure.
Maps in hand Kate started off on her trip that would hopefully bring her back to Nick. However, she was worried that he wouldn't believe that the child was his yet, she knew somewhere deep down he would know and hopefully take her back.
"But maps stay still so I don't end up in Canada" Kate exclaimed to herself as the maps blew around in the front seat.
That night the after the concert Nick was in the green room resting when Kevin walked in.
"Hey Nick great show tonight how's the shoulder doing?" Kevin asked walking in.
"It's good sore a little but doing good yea that was a great show the fan's seem to really be loving the fact that we're back" Nick commented looking down at the picture in his hands.
"Who's that Nick a girlfriend I don't know about?" asked Kevin sitting down next to him.
"No well yea kind of it's a long story" Nick retorted.
"Well if you wont to talk about Nick I'm here for you, you know that right" Kevin reassured him.
"Yea I do her name is Kate she was the one who saved my life in Boulder" Nick started to explained.
"Oh you mind if I see her picture?" Kevin questioned.
"No it's OK with me I know you guy's need to know this and hell maybe you can even help me find her" Nick responded handing the photo to Kevin.
Over the last few months Nick has pulled every string he could in order to find her at one time he was going to hire a private investigator. However, judged against it fearing that if who ever was after her would find her first. In ever city he kept his eyes open for her wondering and hoping to find her.
"She very pretty Nick why didn't you tell me sooner" Kevin inquired hoping not to get a bad response.
"I didn't know how you would take it I need to tell you what happened but Howie and AJ need to know as well" Nick responded.
"We need to know what Nick?" Howie asked walking in as if on cue.
"About Kate and I was hoping that you could help me look for her" Nick responded.
"I knew there was something else going on in Boulder that you didn't 'ell us about. But why now I mean why didn't you keep it to yourself?" AJ exclaimed sitting down next to Nick on his left.
"Well I.. I didn't know how you guy's would take it I mean it sounds a little weird to begin with" Nick replied just as Brian entered the room.
"Nick you know you can tell us anything go ahead we are all ears" Howie stated.
"OK then here goes" Nick started.
After he was finished the guy all except Brian sat there speechless.
"So will you help me I don't want to get to many people involved I don't want her to get hurt" Nick exclaimed looking at each one.
"Yea yes I will help as much as I can Nick I'll even have Jake keep an eye out for her if you want" Kevin stated he was the first one to drop out of the shock.
'Thanks Kevin I would appreciate that very much what about to you two" Nick replied looking Howie and AJ's way.
"Yea of course we'll help you Nick you're our brother will be here for you" AJ answered as Howie shook his head in agreement.
The next day Kate pulled into a gas station on the outskirts of Tampa Kate got out looking around making sure no one followed her. First she got all the gas she need then went to pay for it.
"Excuse me sir I don't mean to bother you but do you know which way Bellair lane is. I looked at my maps I think it's somewhere around here?" Kate asked the cashier.
"She Mama that would be about fifteen miles from here you will come to a red light turn right at the light. Follow it down and you can't miss it is that all you needed besides the gas that is" he responded ringing it up.
"That was it thank you so much sir have a nice day" Kate replied as she left.
'Well little one it won't be long now before you get to see you're daddy' Kate exclaimed rubbing her stomach again.
She hadn't even began to show it was all ready her third month the morning sicken had long stopped to her approval. Kate beginning to wonder if it was a boy or girl while in Houston she got checked out and made sure everything was going smoothly. She did have one last check up before she left just in case she couldn't get it done in Tampa. Driving for the next twenty twenty-five minutes Kate finally found Nick's house it looked empty and dark. Then it hit her they were on tour and most like wouldn't be home for another three weeks. Turning around Kate made her way to Tampa finding a hotel for the night was easy. However, before she turned in she went for a small walk along the beach man had she missed that.
Meanwhile James once again had found he had been staking out Nick home sent he left now it was just a matter of time before he had her. Weeks past by and the first leg of the Black & Blue tour was over resting was in order for Nick so his shoulder didn't get hurt again. Kate had decided to go for a walk along the shores with notebook in hand just in case an idea popped into her head. She had settled on the sand watching the sun as it began to set on the horizon. Then everything went black and a pair of strong arms pulled her up from the ground.
"Now I have you my dear and that little boy friend of you're will never now what it was like to f##k you. This will be something to remember in deed" James spat as he hauled her down the beach to his car.
"Oh but James didn't you know we've all ready made love many times and no one not even you can equal the power and passion that Nick gives me" Kate replied back knowing that it might not have been a good idea but couldn't let James have the upper hand.
"Why you little slut didn't you're mammy ever teach you to not open you're leg's" James stated knocking her out.
Nick had came home to an empty house dust had settled everywhere and was making him sneeze. He saw an envelope on the floor by the door picking it up and opening it. Nick didn't recognize the handwriting. Reading it his eyes widen in fear.

Dear Little Nicky,
You don't know me but I sure as hell know you pretty little girlfriend. Oh yea that's right I have her you don't OOP's you're mistake I guess. You should've took better care of her my boy. Now on to what I want lets see one million dollars in unmarked bills I will contact you when you have the money ready and relay were you are to drop it off. If you involve the cops, Fed.'s, or any other law enforcement agency you're little girlfriend die and that a promise ta ta for now. Oh and have a nice day.

James..

'How dare he do this now what dam it why did this have to happen' Nick exclaimed to himself.
Then he remember the card the FBI lady's gave him at the hospital before he left. Pulling out his wallet he found the card and dialed the number five-second's later a woman answered.
"Celeste DePalma speaking" she replied answering the phone.
"Yes Miss. DePalma this is Nick Carter do you remember me?" Nick asked hoping that she did.
"Yes of course what seems to be the problem Mr. Carter?" Celeste replied.
"Uhmm can you by any change be here in Tampa this evening?" Nick retorted.
"We can be at you're house in ten minutes sir we do know were you live and have been following you around. We'll be there soon sir just calm down" Celeste stated.
"Thank you" Nick responded as they hung up.
Ten minutes later as Celeste promise they were there Nick let them in and showed them the note.
"Has another else seen this note?" Corrine asked sitting down.
"No Mama no one but me" Nick answered.
"All right then we'll get right on it I've had some calls about someone hanging around down on Smith street. We'll check it out and get back to you as for the money if you can get it together we'll call you tomorrow with some details on how everything is going to be handled. Don't tell anyone it might get back to James without you knowing it and don't worry we will find her" KC explained.
"Thank you all and I will just please get her back" Nick exclaimed as they left.
After the women left Nick went to bed it had been a long night and it didn't help much that Kate was now in more trouble than he knew what to do. Kate on the other hand had just woke up from begin out for the last five hours her head ached but felt that her arms were free.
'Maybe this is all a dream maybe I'll wake up with Nick beside me holding me' Kate thought to herself but knew that this was farther from a dream.
She heard some nose coming down the steps she looked up to see James coming down.
"Oh good you're awoke now here I can't have you going hungry now can then you wouldn't be much use to me. You know I hate to say it but I really should have killed you a year ago oh but then I wouldn't be able to have my fun with you" James stated.
"Didn't I all ready tell you I'm taken" Kate replied back looking at him with angry filled eyes.
If she could get lose oh thing's she would put this guy thought for what he did to her family. She took many different type of self-defense and if he hadn't sneaked up on her she would have give him one hell of a fight.
"Oh you mean you're boyfriend I bout that he even still cares about you I've seen him with many women and all of them loving up on him. I know he enjoyed it just by the look on his face" James responded laughing.
"You're lying I know you are but who's care about that untie me and let's have at it that's what you want right so let's go" Kate stated her heart braking with what she had just heard.
Kate didn't know if was true or not she couldn't but for some reason she knew it wasn't.
"I'm not lying but like you said who cares to begin with and soon very soon you'll be mine" James laughed then left.
Grabbing his phone he tried once more to rise Sam he had tried everything from his home phone to his work phone now he was trying his cellphone.
"Hello Sam why the hell haven't you been answering you're other phone?" James asked finally getting a hole of someone.
"Because dear he's dead and that's were you'll be going soon enough if you hurt Kate anymore than you all ready have that a promise James you know I'll do it to. And by the way you're partner he's gone Yup I took care of he for you." Celeste spat.
Now it was James's turn to be fearful he knew what Celeste and the rest of her team was capable of. He'd seen it first hand with a few friends of his that crossed a bad path of Celeste and it was never pretty.
"You b##th you'll never find her count on that one" James replied trying not to show in his voice how much fear he had.
"Oh but we think we can James don't worry it will be all over soon that's if Nick doesn't get to you first I heard he's been working out. And I know for a fact that he is taller than you and know you have his girlfriend I think it's time we pay him a visit to tell him just what you are planning to do with her" KC laughed.
"There's no way he could do anything to me he's to wimpy for that" James shot back.
"Oh but I don't think so well got to go Jamesey I hope you sleep well tonight oh and watch you're back I heard Nick has some big bodyguards as well" Krissy laughed the hung up.
After that rather interesting phone call James drought Kate up from the basement to keep an eye on her. Tying her to a table leg proved to be a very stupid idea from him to make but that came later. The next day was Friday and Kevin was having his party/barbecue party now that everyone knew about Kate they tried to help Nick out in every possible way they could. Of course that still didn't work some time he was quit some of the night eating and doing little talking. After the night was over he dragged himself home to an empty house. Meanwhile James had went out to get something to eat just enough time for Kate to put her plan into action. Leaving the phone in a good place for Kate to find it she pushed and pushed until the flimsy table fell over. Gaining her freedom Kate grabbed the phone dialing Nick's phone number that she knew all to well.
"Hello" came the sleep voice.
"Nick please help me please he's going to kill me please come quick" Kate stated frantically trying to open any door that would move.
"Kate where are you do you know what street anything that would help me out please I need you tell me" Nick begged now fully awoke running down stair.
"Uhmm train's I hear trains in the back ground I think were on the out skirt of Tampa in an old blue that's all I know please Nick come quick be…. That was all she could get out before James knocked her unconscious.
"Kate, Kate please talk to me baby please are you there" Nick exclaimed into the phone.
"No you dummy she out and if you come here without the money you'll be dead and so will she. Oh and by the way she's a pretty good f##k" James laughed then hung up.
Nick at first was stunned but soon that turned into nothing but hatred and angry on the way to the place Kate described he called up Celeste.
"Hello" Celeste answered.
"I know were she is Smith street on the out skirt of town you do know were that is don't you" Nick replied.
"Yes we do we'll be that as soon as you are what house did she say anything about the house?" Celeste asked.
"Yea that it was blue got to good I'll call you back if I find the house" Nick replied hanging up before Celeste could say anything else.
"Let's go lady's we finally have Mr. Conrad and I'm not going to loss him this time" Celeste announced as everyone left.
"Good now that son of a b^^th will pay for all the heart ache he caused" Corrine put in.
Fifteen minutes later Nick pulled up into the driveway of a blue run down house. Hoping that this was the place he turned when he heard a car pull up behind him.
"Hmm wokey, wokey little slut it's time to have some fun" James stated slapping Kate to attention.
"What do you want you bastard get the f^^k off me" Kate exclaimed yelling at him.
"Oh don't you want some of me baby I'm way better then that little boy toy of you're you want to see" James retorted tearing her shirt in two.
"You son of a b^^th you'll pay for that on" Nick yelled lunging at James knocking him off of Kate and on to the floor.
Kate was somewhat surprised to find that Nick had found her but dam as hell glad he had. They watched as the two men fought rolling around on the floor trying to get the upper hand on the other. James got it for all of two second before angry filled Nick's mind and he began to punch him mercilessly. At one point it seemed to Kate that Nick was going to kill James but then all of a sudden he stopped and stood up practically running to Kate grabbing her, holding her tight to him.
"Please never leave me again I love you Kate please stay with me" Nick begged holding her tight to him.
"Nick there are thing's in need to tell you please I don't mean to be rude but let up" Kate replied.
When he did she walked over to James see he was still alive she kicked him hard in the rib caged knocking him out once more.
"Thank you lady's for helping to find me I owe you one" Kate stated to Corrine, Krissy, KC, and Celeste before turning to Nick. "And thank you for saving my life now I'd like to get out of here if that's OK with you" Kate exclaimed.
"Yea go ahead we'll take it from here" KC assured her.
Once the two of them were out the door there was gunfire that was the last time anyone ever heard of James again. Nick helped Kate into his Drango carefully as to not hurt her more than she was already. The drive back was on of quietness and Nick feared that something was very wrong. Once home Nick run over to the other side helping Kate out while they walked inside Nick held onto Kate hand tightly. He got some bandages and warm water to clean the few cuts' she had sustained. Carefully he took care of her like she had him not to long ago.
"Nick there is some thing's we need to talk about" Kate started but was cut off by Nick's finger on her lips.
"You can tell me everything after you have a hot shower and relaxed OK" Nick stated helping her up.
She shook her head she walking with Nick to the stair and up to the bathroom. She spent a good half hour in there when she came out their were clothes of Nick's waiting for her.
"So now that you're clean why don't you come sit down relax take you're mind off of everything" Nick stated once he saw her finished.
'She still looks the same, feels the same, but there is something wrong I only hope she will stay with me' Nick exclaimed to himself as he watch Kate come near.
"Let me tell you everything that happened first I need to Nick you need to know why James was wanting to kill me" Kate started.
"OK then tell me" Nick replied as Kate began what she need to say.
After she was finished Nick was a little surprised but understood why she kept it to herself she didn't want to get him involved. Nick grabbed her pulling her into his arms picking her up and walking to his bedroom.
"Nick what are you doing?" Kate asked.
"Taking you to bed but I don't mean that way you need you're rest you've been thought a lot" Nick replied seating her down on his bed then getting in.
Nick turned off the lights and moved close to Kate holding her in his arms so keep her safe. A million things were moving thought Kate's mind as she tried to sleep this was what she wanted but she didn't know if she deserved it after the way she treated Nick. Silently she slipped out of bed finding a piece of paper to once again write Nick a note. She slipped away into the night once again leaving him with a note and a soft kiss goodbye.

I know this might seem hard to believe that after you get me back I only leave once again. But please understand I love you so much I don't want to hurt you anymore than I all ready have. It pains me to see you hurt and I know in time you will move on, my life right now is a mess I must figures it out before I know for sure if I really love you are not. I hate to make you hurt inside but it is something I must do move on with you're life find someone new that will love you much better than I. I know there is someone out there for you. You see I once vowed to never fall in love but then there was you and I knew at first glance that you were the one. Please except my apology and move on I know it will be hard but you much. If fate deems that we are meant to be than we will find a way back to one another someday but not today. I will always love you Nickalos Gene Carter always.

She never told Nick that he was going to be a father. She left that night after getting back to her hotel room she packed up. Leaving nothing behind, no trace that she was once there, only memory's now hung in the air.
