Well she began to search the house. She came into my room almost in tears b/c she was ow worrying about the open vent. She wanted to me to check under the beds. So I forced myself up to look through my mess and found no cat. My mom is crying, running around the house calling her name. We looked outside and everywhere inside...so we thought.
Mom went downstairs and thought she heard a cry but when she screamed out there was no response. The same thing happened to me but I screamed longer for her down there. We figured it out that the cry was coming from the heater rooom. We were worried she was in the heater since the vent fell down so she ran to shut it off. Well my nana was 86 that year and was crying so hard. We were freaking that she was burning alive. We didn't know who to call esp on x-mas day.
We called 911 and they were sending someone right over. This heating room is so cramped. If you seen pics of me, then you know how thin I am ...I had a hard time getting past the water heater to get to the duck she was in. She was in the return vent thank god. She fell from the first floor to the basement.
She was crying hard now and we weren't sure if she had hurt herself. The heating system is very old and we didn't know how to open it up and we were afraid we had to saw it open in which we might hurt her.
Finally the officer came over. Not to be mean but they must have sent over their fattest officer. We thought we were screwed. How is he going to get back there to figure it all out if i can't!!! Luckily neighbor was in front of the cop car. He thought he was in trouble for speeding or that his elderly father was hurt. Then he saw the cop enter my house and was afraid my granny was in trouble. So he came in and the cop asked him to fit back in the tiny space.
Eventually we found out how to slide to covers off to get to her. She wouldn't come out and the officer said let her come out on her own. We could not just leave her there in case she was hurt and needed medical attention.
So my neighbor grabbed her and she seemed fine. Princess scratched him and headed for the bedroom before he could get a look at her. funny thing is she left a trail of dirt and dust all the way up the stairs.
Poor thing had one more traumatic event to suffer through...a bath. Poor mom I made her do it since i had to suffer the ordeal of bathing all 3 cats we had before. Mom even tried to blow dry her since it was winter. Poor thing shook for hours.
Odd part is her brother never seemed worried. To this day we think he pushed her down there. Cause we don't know how or why she would jump willingly!! So that is my story.Thank god it had a happy ending!
