Lancaster
County is the heart of the Pennsylvania Dutch Country. Most of the Amish Country attractions are in Lancaster County,
and almost all of the local Amish people live here as well. What can you expect when you come here? Here's
a bit of background on your next vacation destination:
Lancaster County is located in southcentral Pennsylvania, 1 1/2 hours west of Philadelphia. Its location makes it a perfect place for a family or tour group to unpack their bags and see all of southcentral Pennsylvania.
Hershey and Lebanon are only 45 minutes away from Lancaster City; Reading, only 1 hour; and Gettysburg and Valley Forge, 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 hours.

You can easily drive to any point within Lancaster County in an hour or less. The county is 46 miles wide at its widest point and 43 miles long at its longest point.
All of Lancaster County's major highways (US Routes 30, 283, and 222, and PA Routes 501, 462, 272 and 23) meet in Lancaster City with the exception of the Pennsylvania Turnpike (US Route 76), which travels in an east-west direction across the northern part of the county. The turnpike interchanges at US 222 (#21 Lancaster-Reading), PA 72 (#20 Lancaster-Lebanon) and PA 23 (#22 Morgantown) provide convenient access.
