With so many denominations, so many offshoots, so many independent churches, home groups and congregations, it is nearly impossible to apprehend the tenets of basic Christianity. Doctrine aside(for now), I have been thinking about the nature and function of the Church.
Just thinking out loud here ...
Is it possible to have like minded people gather either socially OR for the purpose of mutual edification without a specific order or agenda?
Is it possible for "friends" to have "church" at a local eatery over breakfast?
Is it possible to have "church" without walls?
Is it possible, or even desireable, for gathered people to invite God to move among them as He wishes?
It is possible, or profitable, to expect each devotee to be an equal to the others, no titles, no offices, but each bring something to share? (a viewpoint, a song, a question, an observation ... something)
Is it even possible for people to hear from God, to allow God to speak through them, to them?
There are plenty of people who claim this ability - to hear from God. Is this possible?
What is meant by the word "worship"? (not the history of the word, but what it means to YOU) We have worship music, worship services, worship times, worship books and tapes, worship teams ... What is worship?
Jesus prayed that His followers would be One, even as He and the Father are One. What's up with this? He also said that this was how the world would know Him, by the supernatural love His followers showed to one another. Hmmmm ???
Jesus also said that His followers would do the works (miracles?) He had done, and even greater works ... Where are these great works? Where is this evidence of God's power?
Is God alive in you?
