The Fall of the Republic

There is chaos in the Galactic Republic. The Supreme Chancellor seems to be the head of the greed and corruption in the Republic Senate, and it is spreading down to Senators from almost every system.

The peaceful, just council of Naboo, including Queen Amidala and newly elected senator, Sio Bibble, are nervous after the Trade Federation attack on their planet. They are in decision to use their new cloning facilities to build their army.

A Republic Cruiser is arriving at the Kuat Drive Yards to oversee a new construction project...

EXT. SPACE--KUAT

Pan down to a blue Republic Cruiser that enters the atmosphere of Kuat.

EXT. KUAT DRIVE YARDS

Levitating cranes put beams on a superstructure. The blue cruiser flies over a large construction site and lands in a docking bay.

INT. KUAT MAIN COMPLEX--DOCKING BAY

The ramp opens and four blue-suited senate guards come out. They line up, two on each side of the ramp. Darth Sidious comes out next, walking among them. He is followed by a mysterious, cloaked figure and four more senate guards. As soon as the final senate guards passed, the original senate guards followed. Kuat of Kuat, a strange alien creature, comes to greet the Sith Lord. They walk forward.

KUAT: My Lord, we are honored by your presence. We are ahead of schedule and your flagships should be ready very soon.
SIDIOUS: Yes, we are pleased by your progress.

They come to a door.

KUAT: If you please, my Lord, step into my office.

The Sith Lord, the cloaked figure, and one senate guard enter the room. The door hisses shut behind them.

KUAT: Have a seat, my Lord.

Sidious sits down and Kuat moves behind his desk and also sits. A window behind Kuat reveals construction work being done on a starship hull.

SIDIOUS: These negotiations must be short. There are pressing issues on Coruscant that I must attend to.
KUAT: Okay, my Lord. Your starships are almost complete. However, it is costing a bit more than I had estimated. We want seven million, five hundred. In Republic credits only.
SIDIOUS I am not as stupid as you believe I am. The Force is my ally. I can tell when scum like you are lying to me. You are underbudget and ahead of schedule. You are just being greedy.

Kuat of Kuat looks in amazement at the Sith Lord.

KUAT: Okay. I will agree to the original six million deal.
SIDIOUS: Then it is done. However, you may want to spend your dataries quickly. The Republic is facing an impending downfall.

Darth Sidious laughs maniacally. The camera moves to an angle where you can see his face. It is Supreme Chancellor Palpatine. The camera shifts back to face Kuat. In the window in the background, a ship is being tested. It is a Star Destroyer.
