Tides of Love and Hate
Part 7

Angel beat into the pillow lying on his couch. The couch didn't mind much - not only had it been beated many times, but it was an inanimate object as well. As it lost even more of its precious stuffing, it faced certain tearing as the demon face came to its attacker.

"Why?" he growled, giving the pillow one final punch, sending it flying across the room. He set himself down into the couch in a growly heap. Willow had left an hour ago in order to make it look like she had gone to school. That didn't matter, though - all that mattered was that he missed the feel of her in his arms.

After sulking for a good hour and a half, he checked outside. Still light out. Flinching back from the window and dropping the curtains back into place, he flopped back onto the couch and waited for sunset.

Willow walked home with her hands in her pockets, whistling as she went. She passed the school, where several buses were loading up. Amy waved at her from the quad, and she waved back.

Amy bounded across the quad to stand next to Willow. "I guess I haven't thanked you for turning me back to normal, Willow," she said guiltily. "Now I'll think twice before trying that again."

Willow smiled at the other witch. "I'm just glad Giles could help me out. Otherwise you'd still be eating pellets," she said jokingly.

"Yeah," Amy laughed, and the two began to walk away from the school. "So what's up with you, Wills?" she asked casually.

Willow tried to put on a nonchalant front. "Oh, you know, the usual - demons, fighting, cursed lovers. The norm." She kept a straight face.

Amy sighed. "Ah, Buffy and Angel - the ever accursed lovers."

"Not this time, Amy. I have this feeling they're done for good." Willow sighed heavily, and tried not to cry.

Bouncy and perky Amy may have been, but blind she was not. "Willow, what's wrong?" she asked her best friend worriedly.

"N-nothing," Willow choked out, and a single tear slipped down her cheek.

Rubbing Willow's back soothingly, Amy picked up her pace. "Let's get you home, and you can tell me all about it."

Willow flinched away from Amy visibly. "No, no, that's okay, Amy. I have to get home and do some...stuff, and things." Willow couldn't tell her that she had to go to Angel's - she felt drawn there somehow. She needed to get back.

"Are you sure, Wills? I'm worried now..." Amy furrowed her brow. "Okay, I'll let you go. But if you need to talk to someone, I'm here for you, okay?" She smiled.

The red witch returned the friendly smile. "I'm sure, Amy. I'll call you later. See ya!" She bounced down the street as quickly as she could.

Amy shook her head. "Oh boy, now what?"

 "Giles?"

Rupert Giles poked his head from his office. "Yes?"

 "They're screwing."

He started to reply, then checked himself and started over. "How do you know?"

 "I saw them."

Completely flabbergasted, he nearly lost his composure. "Y-you mean, y-you caught them, i-in the act?" He removed his new glasses from the bridge of his nose and began cleaning them nervously.

 "No, not really."

Giles uttered a sigh of relief.

 "But they wre both shirtless."

The poor librarian jumped as a loud 'crack' filled the room. He looked around for the source anxiously.

"You broke your glasses," Buffy said.

 Giles nodded. "Shit."

 Sunset.

Angel shot like a lightning bolt across the still dimming landscape of Sunnydale. All his vampiric energy channelled into his legs to keep him moving. Luckily, he didn't need to breathe, and took great advantage of that on his journey.

For a nanosecond he thought that maybe he should be running to Willow's house, but he quickly pushed that form his head. He had something he had to discuss with Giles.

Angel loved Willow - he was sure of it. Cursed or not, he felt that he loved her, which was good enough for him. The Red Witch and the Vampire - the vampire was him. Obviously that had slipped Giles' mind. The Watcher had forgotten that vampires - especially Angel - knew the scent of a Slayer.

He had sensed her there, watching him and Willow.

 Invading their privacy.

 Angel was pissed
