Major Accomplishments
Achieved during 1998 ~ 1999
Principal Jean Maness was named "Principal of the Year" by the Alamance-Burlington School System.
Andrews students achieved exemplary status on the End-of-Grade Tests (EOG) for the 1997-1998 school year and was selected as a North Carolina Blue Ribbon School of Excellence
Maintained a high rate of student attendance at 96.6%
Increased the number of parents participating in PTA programs, parent nights, and other school functions
PTA raised money for a communication broadcasting system which will be in place for the 1999-2000 school year
R. Homer Andrews became a "Comer School" in 1995
Students have become involved in various service projects, such as collecting food for the Emergency Food Program, making "We Care" boxes for the Family Abuse Center, collecting over $500 for the "Pennies For People" program, and were pen pals with US soldiers stationed overseas in Bosnia
The "Battle of the Books" team won forst place in the ABSS competition in 1998
Our "Red Ribbon" activities with Cox Toyota was featured in the August 1998 edition of People Magazin
Our Memorial Day Program with our pen pal soldiers from Bosnia received television coverage, newspaper coverage, and was featured in the Tarheel Guardsman Magazine
