Philadelphia ia about a 90 minute drive from Harrisburg heading east on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. There is much culture to see in Philadelphia including the Mann Music Center, The Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Rodin Museum, as well as many historic sites including Philadelphia City Hall (the tallest masonry buiding in the world), the Masonic Temple of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Pennsylvania, Independence Hall, Betsy Ross House, the Liberty Bell, Elfred's Alley, and Penn's Landing. What a great city! |

The Friendly Tavern is located just south of Liverpool in Perry County. For many years, it was adorned by a huge smiling face. There are many antique shops and farm markets in Liverpool. Many Amish live nearby and work their farms with horses. |

The state capitol building in Harrisburg is modeled after our nation’s capitol building (which is, of course, modeled after St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome). |

Italian Lake in Uptown Harrisburg is a lovely park. Dixon University Center is nearby as is the Zembo Temple of the Ancient Arabic Order of Nobles of the Mystic Shrine. This building and the Harrisburg Consistory Building next door were built during the depression. These are two magnificant structures located in Harrisburg. |

This picture of Market Square in Harrisburg was taken circa 1900. This is a view of Second Street looking north. If you look closely, you can see the obelisk that used to be at the intersection of Second and State Streets. This monument is now located on the William Penn Campus of Harrisburg Schools along Division Street. |

The park in Harrisburg along Front Street is a wonderful place to spend an evening or weekend walking, bike riding, roller blading, or just relaxing. It can be a very romantic walk with a special friend as well. |

Another view of the Susquehanna River in Harrisburg. City Island used to be an eyesore prior to Mayor Steve Reed's vision to make it a family recreation area. It now includes Riverside Village, Riverside Stadium (home of the Harrisburg Senators - "four in a row" Eastern League Champions!!!), Water Golf, and other family attractions. |
