In July 2002, I joined a handful of classmates from Susquenita High School's Class on 1977 on a 25th Reunion Cruise aboard the Carnival Triumph to Halifax, Nova Scotia. It was a great cruise with many memories. The first day we were at sea was so foggy that you could not see from one end of the ship to the other...kind of scary. We visited Halifax, Nova Scotia, and nearby Peggy's Cove. Halifax is the location of where the victims of the Titantic were taken and in most cases where they were buried as well. Halifax in a beautiful city within the Canadian Maritime Provinces. Peggy's Cove is famous for its lighthouse and it is a quaint fishing village.
We sailed out of New York Harbor (boy was it a challenge to take this picture...LOL).
When we first set sail, one of the first sites we passed was the location of the World Trade Center. We observed a moment of silence while passing Ground Zero.
Soon after passing Ground Zero on our left, we passed the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island on our right.

After a day at sea, we docked in Halifax, Nova Scotia. It just happened to be the same day, July 15, as the Pride Festival in Halifax. We even saw and heard someone's version of Liza Minelli (imaging that!).
The highlight of our cruise was our shore excursion to Peggy's Cove...well worth every penny! This is a small fishing village with a lighthouse which also has an office of Canada Post inside.
This picture portrays the quaintness and solemnity of Peggy's Cove.
Our group may have been small in number, but we were great in having a good, fun time. I can hardly wait for the next cruise! Pictured are Sherwood Wells, Russ Jumper, Chris Malseed Hill, Scott Peifer, Joan Schwanger, Cathy Miller, Deb Shoemaker Hiddeman, Tammy Hearter, Glenn Hoffman, Judy Auxt, Jeff Hill, Selena DiPaolo, and Tim Smith.
Mom went along (as Mr. DeHass's assistant in the library for 26 years, she knew all of the students from Susquenita). She is standing here on the Port of New York with Shirley DiPaolo and her friend. The Carnival Triumph is in the background.
