Becoming an Arhat obviously does not happen overnight. Purification of ones physical and subtle bodies takes time. The infusion of higher energies into ones system also cannot be done too fast, otherwise too much energy or even a small amount of incompatible energy may be detrimental to ones physical, emotional, or mental condition. Thus the process of becoming an Arhat is divided into two major stages, the lower levels and the higher levels.
In its lower levels, Arhatic Yoga is the Synthesis of Yogas. This means that the different kinds of existing Yogas are synthesized, combined, and blended. At these levels therefore, the practitioner has to do Yoga for the physical body (Hatha Yoga), Yoga for the emotions (Bhakti Yoga),and Yoga for the mind (Jnana Yoga). In addition, the Arhatic Yogi is also required to gradually bring in more energies into his system through Kundalini Yoga, and at the same time do Charitable Works, or Service and Tithing (Karma Yoga). The combination of Yogas are designed to mould the practitioner into a better person than he was at the beginning, within a much shorter period of time. The end product of the lower levels is a person with a well-rounded, integrated, and powerful personality, a veritable foundation upon which can be safely built the higher levels of Arhatic Yoga.
The practice of Arhatic Yoga can be therefore quite demanding, but can be successfully sustained by those who are dedicated and committed to the goal of Arhatship.
At the higher levels, Arhatic Yoga is a Yoga of Synthesis. Not too many people at present have reached the higher levels, and those who have are not saying much. But from it's name, the emphasis seems to be more on Synthesis - of form and substance, of spirit and matter. The gradual infusion of the Higher Soul into its vehicles, and the establishment of the link between the Higher Soul and its Divine Origins are further enhanced in the higher levels and involve handling and wielding energies that are extremely powerful, blissful and brilliant, but at the same time dangerous for the neophyte. At those levels, the practitioner nears the goal of Arhatship, and the extent of his/her influence, or Service, can no longer be limited to his family, community, or country - he becomes a World Server. He becomes a force for good in the planet.
